paste2k
Hi,I'm trying to install Windows 7 from Windows PE 1.6 / 2005 (which is based on the Windows XP SP3 setup files). When I start the Windows 7 installation with setup.exe, I get an error which says:Windows installation cannot be started from the current operating system. To install Windows, boot from the Installation media, or upgrade to Windows XP SP2 or later and restart the installation.I've created the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows Key and set CSDVersion to 300, but this didn't work.Where does setup.exe search for the Windows version information? Thanks Edited May 27, 2009 by paste2k
Tripredacus
You should be using the PE designed for Windows 7. Why are you using this old one?
paste2k
In our company we are using the old Windows PE for running an unattended XP installation and I thought I coud install Windows 7 the same way. But it doesn't seem to be possible. Edited June 23, 2009 by paste2k
fizban2
you will need to use the WinPE disk off the windows 7 disk, old versions will not work
