.NET Installation - Only 3.5 SP1 or 2.0 SP2 as well?

Hi guys,

I've been reading on a lot of threads and sites that AS WELL as the .NET 3.5 SP1 package, you should also first install the .NET 2.0 SP2 as well.

I was under the impression that the 3.5 SP1 package contained all the up to date 2.x - 3.x CLRs. Is this not so?

(BTW, I am creating installs for both XP x86 and x64 - don't know if that makes a difference. Just thought I'd mention it!)

Many thanks,

Martin

Yes. You are right.

The "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1" is the full updated package for v2.0 SP2, v3.0 SP2 and v3.5 SP1.

You don't need to install " .NET 2.0 SP2" first.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1

Full Package

To download the full package, rather than the bootstrapper, click on the link below:

.NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package)

IMPORTANT: After installing the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 package (either the bootstrapper or the full package) you should immediately install the update KB959209 to address a set of known application compatibility issues.

If you still have problems with these .NET versions you can try also the updates below (post v2.0 SP2, v3.0 SP2 and v3.5 SP1):

01-) KB961118

02-) KB946411

03-) KB961073

04-) KB962231

05-) KB959362

06-) KB962878

07-) KB958252

08-) KB957661

09-) KB967339

10-) KB960754

11-) KB961901

12-) KB968561

13-) KB968760

14-) KB958722

15-) KB969612

16-) KB956484

17-) KB968556

The best thing to do is to wait for a new update rollup package with the above mentioned patchs.

Regards.
