Last Versions of Software for Windows 2000

What do you mean? Dexpot is free for personal use.

Thank you for clarifying that Dexpot is free for personal use. :) I thought that it wasn't free, but no...until I went to the Dexpot website and found that I can download it, freely for personal use only.

Sorry to revive this thread again, but it looks like that Opera is the last browser to pull the plug on Win2k in Opera 12.10 (and not Opera 12.50 as previously mentioned). It no longer works at all. :(

The reason is that opera.dll calls GetGeoInfoW and GetUserGeoID do not exist in Kernel32.dll even with UURollup v10c installed. These dependencies are only present on Windows XP SP2, Windows Server 2003 SP1 and later.

However, without UURollup, the entry point GetAdaptersAdresses does not exist in IPHLPAPI.DLL.

If there are any workarounds to fix this either with KernelEx or with the UURollup, let me know. :)

:hello:

By the way, there are actually several less known browsers which do support Win2k (even without the unofficial kernel), ex. QupZilla.

Thank you for telling me. :) I'll have a look at the thread in question.

Qupzilla is complied with Visual Studio 2008, incase you didn't know.

You guys for got to mention, e-Frontier Poser 7 (2006) which required a 700 MHz processor and 512 MB of memory and nearly up to 2.5 GB of disk space. I bought it from eBay for Christmas under $35 (including shipping) and it was originally sold for $199. What a bargain! :)

Poser 7 was the last release under the e-Frontier name before it was acquired by Smith Micro and it was also the last release that worked under Windows 2000. Updating to Smith Micro Poser 7.0.4 (Service Release 3) had no effect on the system requirements.

Prior to that, I had Curious Labs Poser 5 (2003) installed on this computer.. I don't think Smith Micro Poser 8 (2009) and Smith Micro Poser 9 (2011) works with Windows 2000 even with UURollup, due to OS checks and the fact that the product might not even work correctly under Windows 2000, if not at all. :(

Also, Windows 2000 support was dropped when Smith Micro released Poser Pro in 2008.

I've just tried to install a trial version of Smith Micro Poser 9 using Application Compatibility Launcher (included in the newest daily release of UURollup-v11) and it installed without any problems. I can't check whether the program runs or not because you've got to enter your credit card information in order to be able to use the 30-day trial.

If you do use the program then I think that you should try to install it yourself using your credit card info. If you're afraid about installing the daily release then you can wait until a new weekly release is ready this weekend. Application Compatibility Launcher is going to be included in it too.

That sounds wonderful! I'm wondering if the full version (including Poser Pro 2012) works though.

Happy new year to all of you! :hello:

Ski Challenge 2013 officially demands Xp but runs perfectly on my plain W2k without extensions.

Previous versions officially ran on W2k.

Better: you can install Ski Challenge from the partial installer, let it update online to have all the tracks, copy (zip) the executable folder.

For later use, just paste the executable folder where you want and run the exe file :w00t: . Better if saved from a fresh installation, without tunings.

This works for:

- versions no more available on the Web

- from a connected computer to an offline one

- from Xp to W2k

- from nVidia to Amd and reverse (the saved fresh installation had coarse display resolution)

- but older versions are language-dependent.

Truly nice game, which accepts moderate hardware. :thumbup

Last version of Winamp (5.666.3516) works fine in Windows 2000. :w00t:

With the latest KDW, just select Windows XP as OS and select "Fake registry".

In this way you can fool the installer :w00t:

We need to start getting this list a bit more updated. Can anyone who uses Windows 2000 test the ongoing support list in the first post of this thread and find out what works and what doesn't work? If support has ended, we need to have that documented. I know Skype for a fact is pretty much dead in the water as far as support. But since I use a patched environment, it would be helpful if anyone who doesn't run KernelEx or has an extra installation that is SP4 UR1 vanilla could test some of those programs and report their statuses so we can update the ongoing support list for 2016.

Hope a forum moderator or admin could update the list and include with kernel extension.

I have a program to add; driverbooster

Although it was never supported on Windows 2000, it works with the blackwingcat's kernel extension.

Your lucky may vary though. It will heavily depend what year the drivers made for xp were or if they are blocked from the system. Many earlier xp drivers tend to work on W2KSP4

Incorrect, turned out kernel extensions were required...
