Drugwash
Well, as far as I can see, everybody here is more or less shooting in the dark so I just set the value back to 00 00 00 FF as it was. Dunno what the connection is with the swap file, free space and all that, but I know 9x was supposed to work even with 50 MB free HDD space so now when I have over 1.5 GB and soon after it throws the "You have run out of space on drive C" message without me doing anything different than before, I know there's really something wrong.Keep on digging, maybe you find out something. Good luck! Edited February 13, 2009 by Drugwash

charly
what would be the best caches settings for gamingAfter benchmarking my drives with Norton apps, using all combination of numbers, smaller was better.Highest reading was with -----==================================================REGEDIT4[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem]"ReadAheadThreshold"=hex:00,20,00,00"PathCache"=hex:ff,00,00,00"NameCache"=hex:00,ff,00,00==================================================ReadAheadThreshold ended up being really small ---- 8 KBPathcache and Namecache also affected speed of read/write to drive ---- set to max.
