XP Minisetup hang can't update registry.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have created an Windows XP SP3 wim-image, on an VMware machine, I then sysprep it with masstorage like.

[sysprep]

BuildMassStorageSection = No (I will try Yes next time)

[sysprepMassStorage]

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0106="C:\DRIVERS\IASTOR\IAAHCI.INF"

I have checked that the entry exist at C:\DRIVERS\IASTOR\IAAHCI.INF. (I will Check again)

The reseal of sysprep works fine and if i start the VMware machinr the mini-setup run just fine.

Then i capture an wim-image of the VMwrae machine and deploy it to an Dell OP 760, then when mini-setup run it hang and it say cant update registry.

So can anyone give me an hint of what is can be that makes the mini-setup hang

CAUSE

This problem may occur if Sysprep cannot decrypt the keys that are located in the following folders:

%systemroot%\System32\Microsoft\Protect\S-1-5-18

This problem may also occur if you run Sysprep on Windows XP and use the -nosidgen switch.
