binarykult
Hi,I recently bought a HP s3626, packed with Vista Home Edition. s3626(I bought it due to a motherboard fail on my previous computer). On my previous computer, i did use Windows XP SP2, wich i was very familiar with...I've looked a bit on the HP Website, but there are no drivers available with XP ... Do you think i can be able to delete Vista and set up XP on this new computer ? Did someone already did this ?Thanks !Pierre
Joe K
PierreUnless you have a full Retail Copy of XP you'll have to buy another. The preinstalled XP and Vista installed by most makers is not transferable.Joe
knowitall_wannabe
It is possible to ISO you're previous copy of XP, un-wrap it to a created folder in Windows, then use N-Lite to add things such as SATA drivers and other XP drivers. BUT FIRST...go googling for downgrading from Vista to XP on the model HP you wish to downgrade. Some places will have links where you can get the proper drivers for XP by using other HP models with the same hardware. CNET's forums seem to have many threads pertaining to this issue, so search wisely. I had this problem with an HP DV6000 loaded with Vista pre-SP1 in April 2007 and wanted to go back to XP. Took a bit of searching for the drivers from reputable sites but eventually got the right XP drivers. As Joe K stated, you must have a legitimate copy of XP before anything else.
