Guide for Slipstreming Sp2 Into Vista RTM

Since Microsoft released Windows Vista in October two Service Packs are out and still service pack 2 in Beta.

Requirements

Windows Vista RTM DVD Untouched

Windows Vista SP1 & SP2

Windows XP SP2 or SP3 as secondary OS

Microsoft Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK)

1. Install Windows XP in Primary Partition i.e C drive.

2. Install WAIK

3. Install Windows Vista into Secondary Partition

4. When OOBE box pop ups Press Ctrl+Shift+F3

This makes your computer restarts in audit mode and sysprep windows pop up

Do not close sysprep windows and install windows vista service pack 1. It takes about one hour to complete."You can also use Vlite to slipstream SP1 but this is not recommended."

5. After SP1 Install Finishes Run Vsp1cln through command prompt this makes Vista Sp1 installation permanent.

6. Now in sysprep window select option Generalise & shutdown.

7. Now restarts windows vista and at OOBE screen Press Ctrl+Shift+F3

This makes your computer restarts in audit mode and sysprep windows pop up.

Now install Windows Vista Sp-2 and Lets do its thing. Its tooks about 20 minutes to complete.

8. After SP2 Install Finishes Run Compcln through command prompt this makes Vista Sp2 installation permanent.

9. Now in sysprep window select option Generalise & shutdown.

10. Now remember do not boot into Vista But boot into Windows Xp.

11. Now in waik run command prompt and type: IMAGEX.EXE /COMPRESS MAXIMUM /FLAGS "ULTIMATE"(REPLACE WITH YOUR EDITION) /CAPTURE D: C:\INSTALL.WIM "WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE SP-2"

12. It tooks about 1 hour in capturing image.

13. Now replace this install.wim in your Vista RTM DVD with PowerIso or UltraISo.

14. Works fine with Vlite 1.2 Final.
