You guys won't believe this: I actually had to disable Antivir 10 Free yesterday, because during my test of creating an add-on with the latest .NET 2.0SP2 it reported this:

Virus or unwanted program 'TR/Crypt.ULPM.Gen [trojan]'

detected in file 'D:\nLite\dnetfx\TMP\TMP2\SVCPACK\XPDNF20SP2.exe

so I had to redo it.

Edit: it just occurred to me that it may have something to do with the UPX compression that SNM uses.

I had the same results with XP. With Windows 2000 everything installed correctly. My only issue is with KB982168. I get the same error twice when creating the build. I've attached a screenshot of the error.

Here's what I did for KB982168 (this is with Windows XP). Extract the package and you will find three msp files, KB976765, KB976769, and KB980773. Use the IExpress wizard (start > run > iexpress > OK) to create an installer from each msp file. Place the installers in the folder with the rest of the dotnet files and run the compiler. I received no errors and WU is happy!

@krose:

OK, I tried your solution, and the three packages, although present in the folder, were not processed, which I could see in the Command Prompt window while the process was on-going.

I would like to ask you which settings for iexpress you used. I used Extract only and Preserve long file names, giving the repackaged files the same names as the .msp files.

This is my log file.

@krose

I tested with the suggested changes and it didn't work again. Is there any way you could take a few images of the process and post them here or upload the files somewhere and PM me so I can grab them? This is not the first time I've used IExpress, so I'm a bit confused.

Thanks in advance

Edit: I just realized, by looking at the screenshot I posted, that the names of my files did not contain the "-x86" section, so it's possible the installer did not recognize them. I'll try that as well.

Krose,

Thanks for tip on how to install KB982168. I never knew there was a program called IExpress. Once I figured out the install command and named the file correctly, everything worked flawlessly.

Sp0iLedBrAt,

Yep! You do have to include the "-x86" in your file name. The first time I tried I didn't include it and it was passed over. When I correctly included it everything installed fine.

M2GD,

Glad to hear it worked for you. I have learned so much from these forums, it is nice to finally contribute something.

Sp0iLedBrAt, I hope you got it working too.

Yes, I did get it to work. The updates appeared to integrate; I uninstalled everything and installed the new package, but didn't want to rush it until I went to Windows Update. Here are the results:
