Ponch
I am NOT looking for links or information on WINPE, as it has to reboot every 24 hrs.If that's your only problem, what about BartPE ?
jaclaz
Sure it is possible. There is a VERY experimental project, see this and links therein:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=126592&hl=Current project:http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3717Is using minlogon, but if I find some more willing members I would like to create a version with "full" winlogon. If you are in a hurry, there is no reason to be "diffident" towards PE, while WINPE is one thing, there are PE builds (either based on Bart's PEbuilder or Winbuilder) that can fit almost ANY need.Winbuilder:http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.phphas a couple of "pre-made" projects that may suit your needs:http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4696jaclaz
redxii
I'm confused, you want *no GUI* or an alternative GUI to Explorer?Linux has a fully functional command line and any window managers or window systems are completely separate can be completely removed so as to not have to use any resources for them or crash your server.Since I take the application is for personal purposes, grab Ubuntu Server edition. Ubuntu without a GUI, but still has a very easy package manager. Edited November 30, 2008 by redxii

aarcane
wamp is the second worst server stack you can run, second only to windows + IIS. if you want to run a webserver, you want LAMP, or L(insert your language of choice stack acronym here). it's more stable, it's faster, it's lighter, it's more secure, and it's significantly better documented and supported for almost every language you could want to run. the only obvious exception is ASP.Don't fear the linux, but do be certain to do your research. CoffeeFiend
second only to windows + IISThat statement is second to none as far as being uninformed.
cluberti
Don't fear the linux, but do be certain to do your research. And statements like this are ones the OP should definitely be sure to avoid. Trolling for trolling's sake will find you banned here on short notice.
