I've just tried this Version 2.40 Build 1138 and it wants to download updates I already have, what am I missing.

Didn't use to highlight missing updates and updates already present?

It's not a feature that's implemented yet... I'm collecting feedback on questions like that... and will probably implement that soon...

bugs?

when i click a checkbox it doesnt work. i have to click twice or press teh space bar.

it shows my already downloaded updates as downlaodable again, thats an old bug but it bugs me that it wants to redl them. plus the alternating yellow and white color serves to confuse people as to wether the update is already downloaded or not. all yellows should be for new downloads and white for already downloaded.

i much prefered the old interface where u could check/uncheck a whole catergory with just 1 click.

and everything was there in 1 place, not 6 tabs to go through.

bring back the old interface plz.

it was fine, and i liked it much more.

i'm going back to old v2.30

What I like:

1. Tabs

What I don't like:

1. No highlighting (green - downloaded, yellow - missing, gray - ignored, perhaps even highlighting or XX/XX stats for tabs?)

2. Everything is selected by default (should only select missing and unignored files)

3. No way to select whole category (add a check box in the header?)

4. Not enough space for update description

5. Too small and nonresizable window

What should be added:

1. A checkbox to permanently ignore a particular update, even if it's accidentally selected for download

a bit OT (UL file related):

2. .NET Framework 3 and 3.5

3. Windows Installer 4.5

The update lists are not up to date.

windows XP SP2 hasn't been updated since about April 2008.

There is no XP SP3 plus the patches.

Vista SP1 is missing with patches

Office 2007 patches are missing although office 2003 is available but doesn't distinquish between the SP's.

No Windows 2000 SP4 plus the patches.

Windows Home Server 2008.

Is that right: XPsp2 hasn't been updated since 4/8/2008 (long time)?

On http://www.windowsupdatesdownloader.com/UpdateLists.aspx is windows-xp-x86-enu.ulz for XPsp3 (it's dated 11/12/2008)?

It appears requests have been made to have the file named specifically as SP3 so I can't say for sure if it's SP3 or not.

Not the only ones with confusion:

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=121015

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=123285

I agree: Windows Home Server would be a nice addition too!

I like to build an updated slipstreamed with all hotfixes and security updates from time to time. It appears all the XPsp2 and XPsp3 lists haven't been updated for some time.

last updated 8/12/2008 - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...6450&st=380

last updated 8/15/2008 - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=74840 (soon to be de-stickied for lack of update from post by tommyp)

I just stumbled across this: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=124566

I'm reviewing it now and hope it provides more info.

(Am I confusing multiple ways of slipstreaming the patches and hotfixes by looking at all those links above?)

EDIT: SWEET! http://www.vorck.com/windows/hotfixes_xp.html

tommyp has an updated list for XPsp3!

Combined with http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=126258 and new list could be compiled and used with WUD (if you like).

I like HFSLIP so I'll be bulk downloading and using HFSLIP but am going to test WUD (by building my own list if I have time).

Based on the listed names on the windowsupdatedownloader link above, it doesn't specify which service

pack is being used. So for example, it just says "Windows 2000" or "Windows XP" etc. Thus, this could

be any of the service packs for the listed operating system not to mention those applications such as

office not being updated for some time based on the date listed.

Note: Besides the hotfixes and security patches, it would be nice to have a separate download file for each

OS that has the addons stuff. That is for example, the deploy, support, wscript, mmc, windows

symbol files directx updates etc.... stuff. The same applies for office etc.

Just to clarify...

Baselines of the uls are:

windows-2000-professional-x86-<lang>.ul

SP4/IE6/WMP9

windows-2003-server-x86-<lang>.ul

SP1

windows-xp-sp2-x86-<lang>.ulz

SP2/IE6/WMP9 (not longer maintained)

windows-xp-x86-<lang>.ul

SP3/IE7/WMP11

windows-vista-x86-<lang>.ul

SP1

@mikesw

'Vista SP1 is missing with patches'

can you be more specific?

Well you answered it. Above you list "windows vista x86 SP1". I presume its for x32 and x64.

And since its SP1, I presume the downloader contains the fixes/patches to VISTA since SP1

came out.

Love your work - this is a great application!:)

But now for my feedback... I just downloaded build 1275 and am running it under vista home premium 64 bit, and it:

1) downloads patches that I already have installed on the machine

2) re downloads downloads patches that windows update downloader itself has already downloaded (installed or not).

It would be great if you could fix these if / when you get a chance... :sneaky:
