PROBLEMCHYLD,

it's because HFVER 0.0.3 doesn't list files from subdirectories (except for xpsp2_binarydrop).

Please try this one:

HFVER 0.0.4 41.95KB

ALL files from each update are now listed which means that at this moment it can be used for updates for any NT5.x (2000/XP/2003) system (x86 only).

I'm not so sure that KB2616676 replaces KB2607712.

I did a file comparison and while crypt32.dll was indeed updated to 5.131.2600.6149, when I looked at update_SP3QFE.inf there where discrepancies.

update_SP3QFE.inf.png

When reading the bulletin, I came across this...

Known issues

  • We are investigating an issue with update 2616676 for all Windows XP-based and Windows Server 2003-based systems.
The versions of update 2616676 for Windows XP and for Windows Server 2003 contain only the latest six digital certificates that are cross-signed by GTE and Entrust. These versions of the update do not contain the digital certificates that were included in update 2607712. Update 2616676 incorrectly precedes update 2607712. Therefore, if you install update 2616676 and have not already installed update 2607712, you will not be offered update 2607712 from Windows Update. You must manually install update 2607712.
To install update 2607712, visit the following Microsoft website, and then select the download link that is appropriate for your system: http://support.micro....com/kb/2607712 (http://support.micro....com/kb/2607712) If you install update 2607712, and then you install update 2616676, your system will be protected against the vulnerability that is described in Security Bulletin 2607712 (http://technet.micro...dvisory/2607712) .
Systems that are running Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 are not affected by this issue.
We will issue an update to update 2616676 when testing is complete.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Any thoughts?
