JRE/Java not working

Hi!

I just streamlined my XP a little bit more with nlite and installed it.

Everything seems to run just great except for a few hick-ups in my event viewer which I know where there with my last altered version of XP.

Now I got all drivers and some applications running and finally tried to install jdownloader (helps a lot with downloading from file-hosters like rapidshare) which is heavily

relying on the latest JRE/Java. Cant exactly get my head around what version is the latest 6 Update 10 I guess ?

However after installing JRE I neither can fire up jdownloader ( it shows up for a second under running processes just to vanish immediately after bringing up no gui or anything ) nor get any applets running at all. Even when running the java check on sun's homepage it tells me JRE is not running on my system.

My best guess is while I was fiddling about with my windows xp installation I might have removed some crucial stuff for java to work. (VML,IE i.e. ?)

I wouldnt be able to tell so I ask you.

Just take a look at my log and see if there is anything that I have screwed-up.

I can remove everything u list in the second preset and more. The fault is not there.

Apparently it is.

I revised the whole setup once more and left things like IE,VML and some more stuff in and now its working like a charm.

So yes something must have taken out the ability of my OS to run JRE.

However I couldn't exactly pinpoint it.

Tell me of this jdownloader program. Where do i download this? I will find the error.

I do not believe it to be vml. Also remember java runs fine with greenbrowser and even windows updates, such as also other web browsers only needing ie core.

JRE 6 Update 10 is the latest. Did you install both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions? Since only 32 bit ActiveX are supported (you are using 32 version of IE7?), you must install both.

Here is the code I copied from Kurt_Aust's 64 bit guide.

I only come to a lot of spam and commercial websites. When i click to download program i only get commercials and advertising. This puts me off.

I didnt install both x86 and x64 but now after I reinstalled XP leaving IE and VML in it it works.

I will take a look into that guide anyway.
