I just got a laptop with Vistax64 Home on it and I want to "downgrade" to XP x64 Pro. I downloaded a supposedly untouched iso of XP Pro x64. I burned it and tried to install it, but it hung up with "STOP: 0x0000007b ...." error check your hard drive for errors and try again. Well, chkdsk found nothing wrong with the hard drive, and finally after looking about, I realize that that error is probably coming up because I need a SATA controller driver because XP doesn't have one on the install CD. Hmmm, having no floppy drive to load drivers at the F6 option, it seems that the easiest option is to use nLite (I've just started using, and really dig it!) and shove the driver into the XP boot CD and re-burn. My main issue is that...I can't figure out/ find which driver to use. ! I tried to add the ahcix64s.inf via nLite to a couple of boot disc burn attempts, but to no avail. It still stops at the same point with the same error. I suppose that's ok, because those useless burnt CD-Rs make for good microwave oven entertainment. Anyway, if you've made it this far in my saga, below are some possibly relevant specs from the machine. I would sincerely appreciate your help. Thanks in advance! HP is a little control freakish?It still seems to me that the ahcix64s.sys (et al) is the correct SATA Controller Driver. Does anybody else have an opinion on that? If this is the correct driver, all I need is a true XP64 disk, and I need to integrate this amd64 driver into this disk (which I don't seem to have?) I did find an 'authentic' (MSDN) download of XP64, and put the ahcix64s.inf driver into a fresh image of it with nLite. Kelsenellenelvian Posted October 18, 2008 Share Posted October 18, 2008 I really think you need to stop "Finding" and "Aquiring" versions of Windows XP it is illegal.Once you have BOUGHT a copy of XP then you MUST have the proper drivers with an .inf, .sys and a txtsetup.oem file (Note the OEM file is the key file you have to have.) The one I've been trying doesn't have a txtsetup.oem, I assume because it is a PnP driver. Does this mean that it is certainly not the correct driver? Do I need to acquire another [free] driver? If so, could someone give me a hint? Do I need to have the atapi.sys or ataport.sys to load XP onto this SATA drive? I thought that those are on the XP disc. ? Kelsenellenelvian Posted October 19, 2008 Share Posted October 19, 2008 Ok just for giggles (I used to get that before in the earlier days).Please do the following:Move the txtsetup.oem file into the x64 folder like in the pic I added.Then after running nLite but BEFORE making iso put the sys file in the I386 folder. Kelsenellenelvian Posted October 26, 2008 Share Posted October 26, 2008 Quite painfully obvious fact would be that you have dl'ed and added the wrong drivers.Remember this:You need just the 64x drivers not the 32 ones.Most of the time they come in the same download so make sure and sort them out.maybe post a link or a model and make of your PC so we can help find and sort out the right drivers? When the choice in nLite came to ask which to install, I chose only the x64 ones. But I would imagine that iastore.sys shouldnt even be showing up, as I thought that was an intel driver... but ive got an AMD board, dont I? I have been everywhere looking for the right files and think I found the solution.This is on a HP DV7-1130us - AMD Turion X2 64I found this on the HP forums and it's what worked for me. The fouth post lists the AMD SATA AHCI download which contains both 32 bit and 64 bit formats.http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums...hreadId=1277575I slipstreamed the XP pro CD with the driver folder, and was sure to only select the x86 (32 bit) option.
