londonboy5
If anyone of you kind people can help me, i would be most grateful. Heres the story. My nephew has a Toshiba A200, with Vista HP installed, but he developed an extremly bad virus which pretty much took over the machine, and as my sister uses it also, she told me that neither of them liked Vista, as it continued to cause problems. Anyway, i asked tthem if they wanted me to downgrade it to XP Pro. So unknown to me the consequences of this, i removed Vista from the Partition, and began installing XP, only to run into Blue screen saying it can not find the hard disk. Having gone through many forums, seeking an answer to this, i finally found a method to bypass the Sata drivers, so the machine would install Xp. But now i have run into a wall, that i cannot get over, unless some one here can help.I need iastor.inf. This is the only file i need to complete the installation, i have downloaded the IATA_ENU file from Intel, but as i suspected, i cannot extract the file as my hardware does not support. So what im asking, is if anyone here can extract a copy of this on their system for me and either send it to me or post it so i can download it, or knows anywhere that i can download a standalone file, then that would pretty much make my week, as this has been an awfully long and painful process, trying to solve this problem. Typical Vista hey!!! Please please please if anyone can help, i will be very very grateful.Thankyou for your time.
IcemanND
well you are likely going to need a bit more than iastor.inf. but I don't understand why you can't run the intel driver installer. The chipset update should run no matter what the hard drive is once the OS is installed as long as you have the right driver installer.

londonboy5
thanks for the replies, Thing is, i have removed Vista from the partition, thats the problem im juggling around now. i have tried slipstreaming the xp installation with n-lite, but still it continues to say "sorry windows setup could not find any hard drives on your computer" etc etc. i understand its about changing the sata drivers, but have i over looked something. the drivers are on the xp install disc, do i need to extract them into the partition? or into the root folder???? i think my heads going to fall off arrrgghhif someone has done this operation before, and had the same problem, please could you tell me how to bypass this pain in the butt vista setup, so i can get xp running.thanks again for your help guys, much appreciated.by the way, i found the isator.inf, plus the sound drivers i needed and the kb888111 file. these are what i integrated into the xp disc, but no joy in installing. have i missed something????????would it be worth just re-installing vista and adding another partition for xp? mind you wont i get blue screens galore?thanks again

londonboy5
Great stuff. thanks Jaclaz. Just incase. Does anyone know, might be asking a bit too much here, but what does the Toshiba A200-1v0 run on, as in Hard drive specs etc. Ive gone through the manuals and it says absolutely nothing about what version it is, what Sata version it is, nothing. ive had a look round but i cant seem to find anything. Ive gone through the page you gave me Jaclaz and thats sort of the problem im having, what version to integrate. Amazing because im actually reading many faults with this laptop. Oh dear lol....
