colore
helloI scan at TIF 600dpi greyscale in my scanneras you can see in this screenshot, the scanner somehow produces images with some marks around the characters, I don't know if glossy paper is responsible for this (the marks look like reflections) or the scanner or something elsethis is the crop of a scanned page:this is the same crop but with lowered brightness and contrast in photoshop that makes those marks much more visible:the marks around the characters cause problems to the OCR program and this reports some characters as 'uncertain characters' or recognizes them erroneouslydo you know what causes this and if there is a way to fix itthanks
puntoMX
I would look for a better OCR program, but I can´t help you with it. It´s neither a hardware flaw nor do I think it´s glossy paper. What OCR software are you using and can you give us the model number of the scanner please.

RJM
Well, I downloaded that image and adjusted the brightness and contrast with Microsoft Office Picture Manager and then converted it to black and white with Paint. and it came out looking good.Or here is an article on how to clean scanned B+W images with photo shop.http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/7...hop.html?cat=15 Edited September 29, 2008 by RJM
