christopher.raston
Hi all,I've just created my vLited ISO of the Windows 7 beta (7000) and I am trying to deploy into to a virtual image first, using Virtual PC 2007 SP1, before physically installing it for the real deal. However, when the setup begins, after choosing my language, I click the "Install Now" button in the seperate window. Then it says "Setup is starting..." and after a while I get the following message:"Windows could not collect information for [OSImage] since the specified image file [install.wim] does not exist."It never reaches the license terms window. I tested the original ISO I received from Microsoft, within VPC 2007, and that has no problems during setup. So it must be a fault with my vLite configuration. Maybe I have removed something I shouldn't!? Except I don't know what it could be, as the error message I receive is a little ambiguous. Here is my preset file created by vLite:; vLite preset file;;#Environment:; vLite v1.2; Framework 2.0.50727.3053; Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 32-bit;;#Target:; Windows 7 ULTIMATE 32-bit ; Version 6.1 English (United States);[Compatibility]Aero GlassInternet ExplorerWindows Update[CustomHide][Components];# Accessories #AccessibilityGames-Inbox GamesGames-Premium Inbox GamesMobility CenterSpeech SupportWelcome Center;# Drivers #Diva ServerModemsQLogic Fibre Channel AdapterScannersStorage controllers-AdaptecStorage controllers-ElxstorStorage controllers-IBM ServeRAIDStorage controllers-ICP vortexStorage controllers-Intel (Matrix)Storage controllers-nVidiaStorage controllers-SiSStorage controllers-ViaTV Tuners-ADS TechnologiesTV Tuners-ASUSTeK Computer Inc.TV Tuners-AVerMedia Technologies, Inc.TV Tuners-Compro Technology Inc.TV Tuners-CreatixTV Tuners-HauppaugeTV Tuners-KNC ONE GmbHTV Tuners-KWorldTV Tuners-Lumanate, Inc.TV Tuners-Philips SemiconductorsTV Tuners-Pinnacle SystemsTV Tuners-TerraTec Electronic GmbHTV Tuners-VidzMedia Pte Ltd.;# Hardware Support #Fax SupportXBOX 360 Controller;# Languages #ArabicBrazillianBulgarianCroatianCzechDanishDutchEstonianFinnishFrenchGermanGreekHebrewHungarianItalianJapaneseKoreanLatvianLithuanianNorwegianPortugueseRomanianRussianSerbianSimplified ChineseSlovakSlovenianSwedishTable Driven Text Input ProcessorThaiTraditional ChineseTurkishUkrainian;# Multimedia #Media CenterMusic and Video samplesSample PicturesSideShow;# Network #Connect to a Network ProjectorDistributed File System (DFS)Telnet ClientTelnet ServerTFTP ClientWindows CollaborationWindows Mail;# System #Disk QuotaHelpJet Database EngineManual Install (Setup.exe)Natural LanguageParental ControlsSoftware Quality Management (SQM)Tablet PCWindows Easy Transfer[Options]DEP (Data Execution Prevention) = DefaultUser Account Control (UAC) = DisabledAntiSpyware Realtime Protection = DefaultMemory requirement = 256MBAutoPlay = EnabledPaging Executive = DisabledPower scheme = High performancePower button = DefaultSleep button = DefaultControl Panel - Classic View = DefaultShow hidden files and folders = NoShow protected operating system files = NoShow extensions for known file types = YesIE Phishing Filter = DefaultIE Phishing Verification Ballon Tips = Default[Services][Protection][Drivers][Unattended][Hotfixes][LanguagePacks]Can anyone work out the cause of the problem?Any help would be greately appreciated. Many thanks. Guillaume
I don't get it, I tried to clean up my W7 installation in another way by removing some packages via DISM, but although DISM stated that all the packages were removed successfully, everything was installed all the same... Not a single component was actually removed.I mounted the W7 install.wim image from within another Windows 7 installation, then loaded the SOFTWARE hive and took ownership of the Packages and PendingPackages keys+subkeys in order to 1) removed the 'Owners' subkeys and 2) set the 'Visibility' values from 2 to 1. This all went OK, and I removed a sh*tload of obsolete packages with DISM (dism /Image:e:\w7rc /Remove-Package /Packagename:...). All went well, but after unmounting (dism /unmount-wim /mountdir:e:\w7rc /commit), the install.wim image was actually a bit LARGER than before. When installing in a virtual machine, every single component that I supposedly had removed still was present. Furthermore, files that I deleted or replaced were still present or unchanged after installation. What did I do wrong? Is this so much different from what vLite does? Is this so much different from what vLite does?I've just tried doing almost exactly the same thing.....with the same dispointing result.Question - is the /Remove-Package option supposed to actually remove features....or just disable them?Either way, it did neither.....when installed on a vm machine everything was still in place and working Leave all things in the source folder Could you expand on this a little? What all things are u refering to?
Guillaume
Leave all things in the source folder Could you expand on this a little? What all things are u refering to?I think this responds to the Manual Install (Setup.exe): you can remove Manual Install if you want, but you'll have to "recopy" the Source folder. marcash
hey how can i put vlite over 7100 x64 ? there is some problem while install: after first reboot says install problem- please install again?what did i wrong i have not removed :game explorer, crash dump, manual install, sqm, win firewall
Guillaume
Yeah, with the newer builds the required components list seems to have extended. Although I'm a real nLite fan, I'd say vLite is hardly worth the trouble for Win7.
