it does exist, not legally that is...

Sure it does. Who are you to say that anyone here is not an MS employee or an authorized OEM?

And who are you to question what I typed?

Someone who might legally have it.

So what's the point of your question? I know some might have it legally, but the rest are not.

My point is that it does legally exist and that you are wrong for saying it does not.

Wow, nice foreplay

Successfully vlited win7. I need to work on taking a few more things out though to get it to fit comfortably on a 4gb eee drive though. It tough because it's very picky about what can be taken out and still have it install. I'll also do business instead of ultimate this time. I really don't see much of a need for media center on an eee.

Yep Vlite works fine, exept for drivers (Never worked for me.) and hotfixes.

Those things you need to do with Dism.exe.

(Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool)

Mount an image from Windows 7 and go to "System32" in the mounted wim.

Copy the directory "DISM" and the file "DISM.exe" to the system32 folder of your computer.

For x64 this is wow64 ( Im not sure cause i dont have the x64 version. )

Open the DISM folder and register the dll's inside (Some cant be registered.)

Then do "DISM.exe /?" without the quotes in a command promt.

Then you will see how it works.

I sucsessfully integrated drivers and the hotfix that is there for Windows7. (Used Vista drivers for that, most work fine.)

So the old ways to do this will not work on Windows7 anymore (pkmgr and peimg.)

And very importand is to not empty the sources folder on the root of your windows7 DVD.

With Vista it was no problem to remove all things in there exept "boot.wim" and "install.wim"

I found one of the things that was causing it not to boot was the removal of manual install. Without pagefile and hibernation I'm now just under 3gb installed and working on getting it smaller.

could u post ur ini :)

This would not install on the 4gb disk on my eee but I installed it to a vm and ghosted it to my eee without a problem. I did end up quickly going back to xp though because win7 wouldn't allow the power management utility to launch, even in compatibility mode and as admin. Too bad that this utility is a deal breaker for win7, at least for now because all the drivers installed just fine.

Without system restore, hibernation and having my pagefile on another drive this install is 2.75gb

so i tested and it works... win7 6801 and vlite work! sorta... it's picky depending on what you choose to remove. maybe we should start with a list of items that must remain unchecked when stripping win7.

The only things I've found that cause issues are removing the manual setup and customizing the owner info.
