Creative SBLive 5.1 SB0100 LiveWare 3.0 Torrent

I've made an iso of my SB0100 Creative Installation cd of LiveWare 3.0, made a torrent and am seeding it. The above site hosts torrents free, and I'm using a free tracker for it.

It's gonna be slow since my ISP (Comcast) has slow upload speeds. Hopefully those who want it will download and seed as well, and I hope this is working as well. New to this uploading torrent thing and just hope I did it all correctly.

If someone gets it and wants to make rar files and upload it to some hosting site it would be nice for others too. I did it this way because it looked easy and it's free for me.

The instructions I put on that web page show that if one wants the VXD drivers with the SB16 emulation you need to copy the cd to the hard drive, change the AUDIO.INI file from 98SE/ME WDM 1 to 98SE/ME WDM 0. Gotta uncheck read only before doing that and then make it read only again. Then run setup from the hard drive (or make a cd with it that way, whichever is preferred.) I used to do the install right from the hard drive and it worked fine.

The older LiveWare 3.0 cd's didn't include the inf for the SB0100. This cd came with the SB0100. The weakness is that I don't think it has the remote center software for the LiveDrive if one uses that. It was a Creative retail package produced as a value soundcard without the LiveDrive after the Audigy took over as the number one product from Creative. So they just left the LiveDrive stuff out.

Edit -

I don't know if anyone's been trying to get the download as my torrent client hasn't shown any activity.

I noticed that sometimes the tracker information showed problems confirming the tracker as working. So I added some more free trackers to the list in my torrent client and now it appears to be reporting them as working. I used the list on a how-to webpage:

http://open.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announce

http://www.torrent-downloads.to:2710/announce

http://denis.stalker.h3q.com:6969/announce

http://www.sumotracker.com/announce

http://pirates.sumotracker.com/announce

Once I added that list and clicked update tracker, KTorrent picked the denis.stalker one and reported it as working.

Hopefully I'll start to see activity now, before mininova.org removes the torrent due to non-activity.

I think you need to add those trackers into your torrent client in order to use them, as the torrent itself just lists the first one there on the list that hadn't appeared to work consistently.

Edit -

Okay, someone at the Creative SoundBlaster Forum suggesting trying to upload to FileFront. I joined up and am currently uploading the iso. I have no idea if they will permit it to finish as a cdrom sized iso is pretty big.

I'll let you know when it's there. Somehow the torrent connection isn't working the way I set it all up. (He tried to download it.) I hope using FileFront works.

Okay, that's the FileFront download site for the iso. Get it and let me know if it succeeds at making this whole SBLive 5.1 on Windows 98SE easier. That's the point of my going through all this.

Remember that the WDM driver installed if you just run the cd really is awful! You've got to copy the cd to a folder on your hard drive, adjust AUDIO.INI to change the lines for installing WDM to 98SE and ME from 1 to 0 (right click, properties, uncheck read only then check it again when you're done). Then run setup from the folder.

Your download has failed. There were no available download servers.

Perhaps FileFront was having problems when you tried. I just started a download of it and it was going fine.

Obviously, I can't control when they have server problems. But it appears to be working fine, at least at this time.

I really hope this cd will be useful for those that want to use this soundcard on Windows 9x/Me. On 2000 I'd recommend the later versions based on the 252 drivers and the WDM's on this cd and the software were really 9x oriented and not the greatest. Beautiful VXD's for 9x/Me though.

Don't forget to not run the cd, but to do it from a folder on the hard drive and change the Audio/english/drivers Audio.ini (or wherever that thing is) to make it install the VXD's on 98SE and Me rather than the default WDM's. Just change the value from 1 to 0 for that line in AUDIO.ini and it'll do that. Going from WDM to VXD can wreck the whole Windows installation, and/or the sound stack since the WDM's add a bunch of files that will continue to try to load (and fail, hopefully) even when switching to VXD's afterwards. Install VXD's the first time and you won't need to mess with anything.
