Rapture2k4
Hey all,I've been tinkering around with nLite alot trying to make a good install CD with RAID drivers. I've come to notice that no matter what I do, Add/Remove Programs will not function. I assume it is an IE7 issue, but I may be wrong.I'm simply including all hotfixes, SP2, WMP11+hotfixes, some drivers, and AutoIt3 addon. I remove some stuff during the nLite ISO creation, but nothing I would think cause this. I've made 4 ISOs now and all of them have inoperable Add/Remove Programs. Is this a bug with x64 nLite ISOs or am I missing a critical step somewhere?Thank you.Edit: For clarification, I try to install firefox, avast, or something like that and notice it isn't adding the programs to the list. johnhc
Rapture2k4,I assume you know that all the things (e.g. Hotfixes) you integrate in nLite will not show in Add/Remove. Why the other things don't show, I haven't a clue. Perhaps if you included your Last Session file someone could see something you removed that caused the problem. I have made many XP x64 ISOs and never seen the problem. I test under VMware Server and right now I have eleven items in Add/Remove - I think all of which are programs I have added.Enjoy, John. Rapture2k4
I'll build another ISO and install it in VMWare and post my Last Session with some screenshots. I really enjoy the speed of XP when i remove unneeded crap.
Rapture2k4
I spent the time to the install how I wanted after spending a few hours getting all the hotfixes. During the ISO creation, I got a few errors (probably irrelevant, but I posted them anyways):The ISO is completed:The installation process went just fine. Once windows was loaded, I downloaded and installed 7zip:After install, I opened 7zip and checked Add/Remove programs:Just to be sure, I downloaded and installed Firefox:Still nothing in Add/Remove Programs (yes, I did close and reopen Add/Remove before the screenie)...Here is my Last Session.ini:[Main]Env = 1.4.8 - 2.0.50727.1433.Microsoft Windows NT 5.2.3790 Service Pack 2Target = Windows XP johnhc
Rapture2k4,It looks like you are applying 32 bit Hotfixes and multiple times. First I think you should look at Kurt_Aust's post. I use his process for my XP x64 and get no errors. Errors should not be ignored. I don't know if that is the root of your problems but I suggest it needs to be corrected first. I see you are deleting directories DOCS and SUPPORT. My DOCS is empty but there are several MBs in my SUPPORT directory. You might try a build with it in place and see if that fixes the problems. I did a Google on 'blank add/remove' and got lots of hits including in these forums. I suggest you take a look. I don't really know what the stuff in SUPPORT does, do you - OK to remove? I hope others will take a look at your Last Session - I know little to nothing about lots of your items.Good luck, John.
TranceEnergy
I really doubt you are including *ALL* hotfixes for xp x64 sp2. I have gone through all of them, and counting just hotfixes/security updates, comes to 142 unique fixes in total. Thats excluding IE, remote desktop, and other MS tools.I have only found 3 hotfixes out of those 142 fixes, that doesnt integrate with nlite. 1 of them is the european expansion font pack, and a update for that, plus one other. I described it in the nlite thread.
