eye-tea
hello all, I've created my first unnatended windows vista dvd. it's size is 4.3Gb and i created it step by step:1)integrate the updates before sp12)inegrate sp13)integrate all updates after sp14)make it unnatended i then created an image of it with vlite and burned that on a dvd-rw, I boot up from it but after accepting the license agreetment i need to select the drive/partition where i want to install vista to and then i get this error 0x80300001. I googled it but i didn't find anything that really could solve this problem, so i decided to make a topic about it. i also found another topic here on this forum with same problem and he solved it by formatting his drive tried that but didn't help...andy ideas ?things i've tried:-delete all partitions and make one big one (drive c:)-run chkdsk /r on startup-made a new partiton fully formatted, again chkdsk/r-today(august 15'th) i did a format of my hd, didn't help either. it keeps asking for a driver, on gathering tweakers there is a topic wich is going about the same problem and he solved it by slipstreaming his ichr driver to a floppy. then on the vista setup he said to look after drivers in the floppy and that solved the problem. i Never heard of ichr drivers, i also googled it but didnt found anything usefull.today is an other day, i again started googling my problem but i think it's all going about the sata driver, so maybe deleted something that i shouldn't so i will post my xml file.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <settings pass="windowsPE"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core-WinPE" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="NonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <SetupUILanguage> <UILanguage>nl-NL</UILanguage> </SetupUILanguage> <InputLocale>080c:0001080c</InputLocale> <UserLocale>nl-BE</UserLocale> <UILanguage>nl-NL</UILanguage> <SystemLocale>nl-BE</SystemLocale> </component> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="NonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <UserData> <ProductKey> <Key> Just a Product Key</Key> <WillShowUI>OnError</WillShowUI> </ProductKey> </UserData> <ImageInstall> <OSImage> <InstallFrom> <MetaData wcm:action="add"> <Key>/IMAGE/NAME</Key> <Value>Windows Vista HOMEPREMIUM</Value> </MetaData> </InstallFrom> <InstallToAvailablePartition>false</InstallToAvailablePartition> <WillShowUI>OnError</WillShowUI> </OSImage> </ImageInstall> </component> </settings> <settings pass="oobeSystem"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="NonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <AutoLogon> <Password> <Value>robin</Value> </Password> <Enabled>true</Enabled> <LogonCount>1</LogonCount> <Username>Administrator</Username> </AutoLogon> <OOBE> <NetworkLocation>Home</NetworkLocation> <ProtectYourPC>3</ProtectYourPC> <SkipMachineOOBE>true</SkipMachineOOBE> <SkipUserOOBE>false</SkipUserOOBE> </OOBE> <UserAccounts> <AdministratorPassword> <Value>robin</Value> </AdministratorPassword> </UserAccounts> </component> </settings> <settings pass="specialize"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Security-Licensing-SLC-UX" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="NonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <SkipAutoActivation>true</SkipAutoActivation> </component> </settings> <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:C:/Users/xpx/Documents/Vista setup !/na sp1-LRMCxFRE_NL_DVD/sources/install.wim#Windows Vista HOMEPREMIUM" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" /></unattend>untill this far nothing helped...thanks in advance, eye-tea Edited August 17, 2008 by eye-tea
Ben.Hahlen
I have got the exact same problem... Did you resolve this in the end?My Vista + SP1 is able to install without problems. However, once I integrate all the other updates after SP1, but then I get the 0x8030001 error.I'm starting to think it's because of my install.wim being larger than 4GB, but I'm not sure about that.Would it work if I would split my install.wim into multiple files?Any help on this? maxXPsoft
I done a plain jane sp1 -updates and booted into vista and then went and got list of what WU said I needed for updates. Rebuilt and once again booted in and needed 7 more updates so added them. Now I'm fine and I didn't d/l 300mb + of updates I didn't need.42 files at 194mb even with some of the Ultimate extras. Perhaps its one of the updates causing problems.Another thing is I removed all extra images leaving only ultimate and gained about 410mb space. But I also added over 700mb of applications leaving me at 4.190 Edited November 26, 2008 by maxXPsoft
COOLCOMPUTERGUY
To end the confusion about SP1 prerequisite updates: these are only needed for the Windows Automatic Updates service to download and install SP1 but are not required for slipstreaming SP1 and could actually couse errors if aplied before or after slipstreaming SP1. My point is that all updates released prior to SP1 should be excluded from the installation source. mrputty
I'm sorry for digging up this post. But after having read many threads on the 0x80300001 error, I'm still confused.Did I get it right: the cause is an iso larger than 4.3Gb?I have tried to accomplish the following:- Slipstream Vista Home PE SP1 Eng. x64 with: + German language pack + All updates post SP1 + Current Ati CatalystVlite produced a 5.6Gb large iso, burned to DL DVD.I also recieve the 0x80300001 error on install. Is there anyway to accomplish the above and get past this pesky error? Help is much appreciated - I'm lost
