Hilton Posted July 25, 2008 Share Posted July 25, 2008 I have an XPSP3 system from which I removed several components I didn't need, or so I thought.The wife wants Messenger installed, but when I try to install Live Messenger, I get:There was a problem with this installation. Windows Live Suite was not installed.System error detailsCode: 0x80070714Description: The specified image file did not contain a resource section.I have repeated this enough times from several different download sources, including using the direct-install file (the normal WLInstaller.exe is a downloader), and copying the exact same file to another PC via network and via CD to know that the file(s) are not corrupt. This seems to be some tiny missing piece within Windows, perhaps related to the .NET libraries (although I have uninstalled and reinstalled all three .NET versions).
