Visual Studio 2008 running on Vista

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just done a clean install of visual studio 2008 standard on vista. upon setting up a new asp.net website and running it to make sure everything is ok, i get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" , also if i goto website > asp.net configuration i get the same "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

does anyone know why the integrated web server isnt ddisplaying the webpage? , am i missing a setting some where? and yes i have checked that the integrated web server is running.

thank you,

Steve

Strange. I've never seen the issue. It normally works out of the box.

Maybe you're running some kind of firewall that blocks connections to it?

Also, it would be helpful to have a more descriptive error message than "cannot display the page".

Edit: oops. looks like you got it solved. So much for opening 50 different tabs and answering them later.

  • 2 weeks later...

My solution was removing the next line in the windows host file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

::1 localhost

This is an IpV6 entry. Put a # in front of it.
