WinHlp32 from WinXP SP2 works. In original WinHlp32 mouse scrolling did not worked, in this it works.

SISContents 1.57 works. It produces error messages, does not display some text (for example in caption), may crash, but I have successfully extracted sisx file with it.

Flock 2.5.5 and Wyzo 3.0.3 firefox clones work in WinXP SP2 compatibility mode.

Audacity, the free audio editor, had the last ANSI version for Windows 9x as 1.3.7 Beta.

The newer Unicode beta versions work with KernelEx 4.0 Final 2 from the extracted zip.

However, to use the installer requires KernelEx 4.5 Beta 1.

In both cases, audacity.exe needs compatibility mode set to at least Windows 2000 SP4.

Hello all ,

I use KennelEX 4.0 final 2 and JRE 1.6.0.18 doesn't work on Firefox 3.6, but work fine on Firefox 3.5.7 , 3.0.17, K-Meleon or IE6.

The reason is that Firefox 3.6 use the "next generation Java plugin" and it is not supported on W98SE with KernelEX 4.0 and this is known. :}

Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U18
Fichier : C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\new_plugin\NPJP2.DLL
Version : 6.0.180.7
Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_18 for Mozilla browsers

Firefox 3.5.* and earlier versions use "classic Java plugin" who work well on W98SE with KernelEX 4.0

Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U18
Nom de fichier : C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\npjpi160_18.dll
Classic Java Plug-in 1.6.0_18 for Netscape and Mozilla

Does the "next generation Java plugin" work with KernelEx 4.5 Beta 1 or will it be working in the future ? :unsure:

TextMaker Viewer 2010 works! http://www.officeviewers.com/

Nice free viewer for tmd, doc, docx, odt and other formats. However, it crashed when I tried to view html file, but it opened several doc files and tmd file correctly without errors. Unfortunately I didn't have any docx file to test.

Without KernelEx or with? Version? - last? And compatibility as WinXP or win2000?

Can not recall seeing where anybody else had tryed this;

The latest release of "TotalText Container" loads and runs

with Kex 4.5 /b2 ....Kinda like keynote on steroids. Using

the 2000 /sp4 compatiblity option.

This is the first time that any combination has worked

at all for me, the only thing I am having trouble with

is the spreadsheet section.

Jake

Update / re-downloaded ...near as I can tell everything works, but it

tough on system resources (like 32% worth) ..but definitely a cool

application...

With KernelEx, this is the topic about apps, which require KernelEx to work. I have tried with 4.5 beta 2, but didn't tested with previous versions, may be with them too. Doesn't need setting special compatibility mode.

Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean Online game installs and runs with KEX. The game works but the graphics are terrible when compared to playing it on XP. Someone with better hardware and/or drivers may have better luck with the display quality.

I have searched for XPS viewer for Windows 98 and found one that can open a file with KernelEx installed - STDU Viewer. It also can read tiff, pdf, djvu, cbz/cbr, tcr, and jbig2 files. The latest version worked and opened an xps file OK, but there is the foolowing bug - every interface element of some of its windows appears in its own window with caption don't work pro, don't work properly and garbages screen space. For example all the interface elements of the search toolwindow and add bookmark dialog appeared in that way. Despite of this, I think, the program can be still useful, it opens and displays files correctly, search works through the quick search box on toolbar, and garbage windows can be moved to the edge of the screen.
