problem with digital camera

Recommended Posts

hello

I have a stripped XP version

I installed my digital camera drivers, but XP doesnt recognize them for some strange reason

please note that my camera does not have a Mass Storage mode, the pc recognizes it through its PTP/MTP drivers and activates the software to transfer the photos

is this because I removed something with nlite?

thanks

We can't really tell you without you adding your last_session.ini to your post.

oh, its been so long ago, I dont have it anymore

is there a way to restore all the digital camera and PTP/MTP stuff that nlite strips?

The "main" related files should be:

ptpusb.dll

ptpusd.dll

ptppusb.inf

sti.inf

sti.dll

stillcam.inf

it's a looong shot, but you can try checking all references in said *.inf files and try installing them.

Also you can build TWO nlited .iso's, from the same source, one with NO removed items, and one with ONLY the Digital Cameras support removed, and analyze the differences....

basically a .inf file is an installer script, that adds the relevant keys to the Registry, copies files to system directories, etc.

Read this article (.inf files explained in a simple, effective way :thumbup ):

http://www.wd-3.com/archive/InfFiles.htm

You have to browse the said .inf files (Notepad will be enough) and check that you have in your system and/or appropriate source the files mentioned in them, optionally you can use this "specific" experimental app:

http://www.boot-land.net/forums/?showtopic=3960

then you simply double-click the .inf file.

Be warned that it will be a long and prone to errors procedure....

many thanks

TWIMC, I moved the above mentioned files in system and inf folders of c:\windows accordingly and it worked!

You are welcome. :)

After all it was easier than what I would have thought. ;)
