Error during install - WMDRMSDK.DLL was not found

I'm trying to integrate WMP11. I get the following error several times.

unregmp2.exe - Unable to locate component

This application has failed to start because WMDRMSDK.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem

Now I've search and seen several other people with the same issue but I didn't read an explantion of what's wrong or how to fix it!

I've started with SP2

Then I Slipstreamed KB908536 and KB894871 with nlite

Then I used the 1.3.2.0 WMP11 tool from BOOOGGY with all the listed hotfixes.

Then I Proceded with the rest of the customizations and tweaks with nlite.

Now if I skip the WMP11 tool.. it works fine... no errors..

Any thoughts?

Jim

I did it two ways and both failed.

Then I Slipstreamed KB908536 and KB894871 with nlite (PRE_WMP11 preset)

Then I used the 1.3.2.0 WMP11 tool from BOOOGGY with all the listed hotfixes. (External tool)

Then I Proceded with the rest of the customizations and tweaks with nlite. (Post_WMP11 preset)

Next I tried letting Nlite do all the work as in this

Thread.. That didn't work either... Last session preset attached

Pre_WMP11.ini

Post_WMP11.ini

I had that same problem and here's how I fixed it.

1) Start with a clean copy of your OS source files.

2) Slipstream SP3 using nlite.... then exit nlite.

3) Run the WMP Slipstreamer against the source ***Without*** any hotfixes!!

4) Go back into nlite and apply the hotfixes and any other things you want to add or change.

5) Burn your ISO image.... done.

That is what worked for me. When I tried to slipstream SP3 with nlite and then applied the required WMP11 hotfixes using the WMP11 slipstreamer, I got the same error as you are seeing among many other errors. Everything works fine now.

Hope that helps....

i think i have an ideea.....

as long as u are using sp2...then the order should be:

1. copy a clean sp2 source to your hdd

2. integrate ryan update pack (saw u use 2.2.2) and ie7

3. integrate KB894871 (the other one is in ryans pack)

4. run my slippy to integrate wmp11 plus hotfixes.

5. nlite.....

please try like this and report back with result

thx

For #2.. Should I use Ryan's integrator or Nlite? (I was using Nlite...)

Why do you want to avoid SP3?

Just curious.... :)

I don't like the idea of WGA Preinstalled with SP3.. Which I heard it was...

That seems to have worked.... Do you have any thoughts why that did work and why mine didn't?

It was either the update pack or IE7...

Oh.. and thanks a bunch!
