ThreatFire v4.0.0.8 (formerly known as Cyberhawk)

ThreatFire is zero-day security software designed for the average consumer. ThreatFire protects in real-time against viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, adware, rootkits, keyloggers, and buffer overflows. It is designed to be used alongside your current antivirus to protect you between antivirus updates. Because it is behavior-based and not signature-based, ThreatFire protects against both known and unknown, or zero-day, threats. It is easy to install, painless to use, and immediately effective against today's computer security threats.

What's new in version 4.0.0.6 (21 Oct 2008):: http://www.threatfire.com/updates/

ThreatFire V4.0 – What’s new?

Smarter alerts, less questions – patent-pending

Security software alerts can sometimes cause confusion about the appropriate action a user should take (block, allow etc). ThreatFire 4.0 greatly reduces this confusion by minimizing both the number and type of alerts that require you to make a decision.

This is made possible by a new technology employed by ThreatFire which groups threats into families based on common traits or characteristics of the threat (behavior profile signatures). This patent-pending technology makes ThreatFire capable of catching hundreds of variants of malware within the same family and helps you to make a more informed decision about any malicious activity on your computer.

This means that ThreatFire 4.0 will prompt you less frequently about how to handle potential threats.

Less impact on computer performance

ThreatFire 4.0 has been enhanced to ensure even lower impact on your computer’s performance. By caching more information about running processes; ThreatFire 4.0 has further reduced the CPU footprint to ensure minimal impact to your computer and software performance.

Greater detection accuracy - reduced chance of false positives - patent-pending

ThreatFire 4.0 incorporates patent-pending technology to provide greater accuracy in detecting real threats and a greater ability to avoid classifying legitimate programs as potentially malicious (known as a false positive). The method that ThreatFire uses to determine the legitimacy of a program has been completely re-engineered in an effort to further reduce false positives. This new method of rating will ensure that ThreatFire’s alerts include more accurate and relevant information about potentially malicious behavior.

Improved protection of new and unknown internet threats

The latest version of ThreatFire brings an improved level of protection by adding several new rules. This additional set of detection rules are designed to increase detection of zero-day threats, giving you maximized protection against the newest form of malware attacks.

User interface improvements:

Customized scanning options

ThreatFire 4.0 now allows you to run customized scans, including selected files or folders, with exclusions. This is especially useful if you want to quickly check a particular file or folder on your system for potential infection.

Sensitivity levels

In the settings section of ThreatFire you will notice a new area called sensitivity level. We have replaced the term “protection levels” with “sensitivity levels” to enhance usability.

The only change to the functionality of this feature is that the sensitivity levels have now been included on ThreatFire’s yellow alert screens, to further assist you in deciding what action to take when prompted.

Additional update options

The Smart Update feature now includes several options to give you greater control over how and when updates are applied. The new update options include “download and install automatically”, or “notify before installing updates” (refer screenshot below).

Other new features:

Help files now available Online (in both English & Simplified Chinese)

Quick Start Guides extended to include German, Simplified Chinese, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese languages

Now available in Simplified Chinese, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese
