Octopuss
I got my hands on 64bit Ultimate version and played with it a little. I am totally unable to install with disk in AHCI mode, when I get prompted for driver, the **** thing doesn't accept it, babbling about need for signed drivers. There are no such signed drivers whatsoever!! I downloaded them straight from Intel's web and there's nothing else. Help! What now?
Tripredacus
Which Intel board is it?
Octopuss
It's not Intel board. It's Gigabyte P35-DS4. But Intel drivers is what's needed. Gigabyte provides those same ones (only that they are outdated) on their web.
Tripredacus
Without knowing which revision you have, presuming it is the newest, this appears to be the driver download. Is this the one you used?http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Motherboard...amp;FileID=3078It also seems that there are two Hard Drive Controllers on this board, one for the Intel 82801IR/IO SATA AHCI (ICH9) and one for something else?http://www.gigabyte.us/Products/Motherboar...?ProductID=2636Where did you download the Intel drivers from? I am actually having difficulty finding a download for them.
Octopuss
I got the 2.1 revision, so yes, the latest.Download page for that is http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherb...?ProductID=2745This would be the file we're after http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherb...amp;FileID=3101.The other SATA thing is GigaByte's own SATA controller which I always keep turned off.Regarding Intel, the site is a mess. You actually have to browse the products, find the chipset page http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/P35/index.htm and navigate to download area http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-026488.htmThen for 64bit Vista you would end up hereThe specific file would finally be thisNow comparing the two packages, you end up with exactly the same files, maybe different in version, but that's not important. What a nut to break... Tripredacus
you end up with exactly the same files, maybe different in version, but that's not important. What a nut to break...Well first of all, version is extremely important, so don't ignore that. OK it says you need your RAID DISK to have the following files on it:2. Create a floppy* containing the following files in the root directory: iaAhci.inf, iaAhci.cat, iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat, iaStor.sys, and TxtSetup.oem. * Note: For Windows Vista you can use a floppy, CD/DVD or USB.Check the digital signature on the iaAhci.cat and iaStor.cat. Octopuss
I made sure I downloaded the correct package. Yeah. The signature is perfectly ok - well, doubleclicking the files and checking shows they are signed.I will give it another try when I get from work. MAYBE I put something else on the **** diskette, but um... Even if I put the 32stuff there which I use for XP installation, it should NOT babble crap about signatures as those files are signed just as well! tosk
I had this same issue with Vista 64. When it asks for the drivers, give it the 64-bit ones first. It'll then display the error about signed drivers. Just click OK and go back to the disk selection screen. Once there, install the 32-bit drivers for the device. It'll give you another warning about signed drivers. Again, ignore and continue. Once back at the disk selection screen, your drive(s) should show up. Proceed with installation normally. When I do this, the 32-bit drivers I select allow setup to see and use the disk for the purposes of copying the files. However, when it reboots, it boots into 64-bit and uses the 64-bit drivers I selected.
