First, I am very sorry if I am asking question that's already been answered but I couldn't find it. (and also I presume I am not the first guy with this prob)

I have just coocked my Win instalation, and a LOT of stuff is doing exactly as I said, but there are things that was... well, ignored. Mostly visual settings (effects). It's the annoying fades, slides, etc. One more thing that I could notice that isn't added is Device Manager to Context Menu on My Computer...

Please help

tnx

It's hard for me to understand precisely what you're trying to say. I'm not sure I want to know what coocking (or cocking) your Windows installation is. :thumbup Sorry, had to joke.

Anyway, are you saying that you used nLite to change some settings and that some of them took affect and others didn't? I haven't used the very latest nLite version; I had last used v1.45 beta 2, but I had no problems when I used it to set the visual settings. In this case I set all the visual settings on with the exception of auto-activing windows that I hover over. I haven't ever tried adding Device Manager to the context menu so I don't know about that...

Most installations I turn nearly all the visual settings off but this was on a powerful enough computer.

I am using nLite 1.4, and you got it corectly, some settings took affect, and some of them didn't.

I added sp3, sata drivers (those which supposed to be on floppy), entered serial number, turned off some other stuff (firewall, security center, automatic update etc)

Everything that matter (read important stuff) worked just fine, and small stuff, like the ones I said earlier related to visual effects... they were just ignored.

When I was firstly experimented with nLite everything worked fine. Maybe there is order or some special way of cooKing :) Maybe I should first put sp3 then build iso and start nLite again do the important stuff and again build iso and ... well you got the point :)

Strange. You should try this with the very latest version and report back if it still does it.

You shouldn't need to build an ISO at the separate steps, the result will be the same. As a rule and not related to this, however, whenever a new Service Pack comes out, I usually create and burn a new ISO with just the new Service Pack slipstreamed to use in the future as a master image so that I don't have to slipstream it every time I create new custom installations. I do this a lot, however, so if you don't do it that often it's not that big a deal.

I've just downloaded latest version and I have same problem... It just keep using default settings (Display Properties/Appearance/Effects) and on Properties on My Computer then Performance Options... It's like I did nothing...

Nobody had this problem? That's odd... :(

Your nLite is out of date, and your SP3 isn't the FINAL too!

And in your opinion that's what's causing the problem? C'mon, I've tried with new nLite (this is just old .ini file), and imho SP3 version doesn't matter in this case...

But if anyone else agrees I'll download final, but it shouldn't make any difference....

Tnx for interest in my prob anyway

Well it may or may not make a difference, but it should be a big concern to you. After all, SP3 beta is still beta because it's buggy. Also, what use is it to slipstream the beta version 1) when the final is out now, 2) the beta will not continue to be supported and 3) the betas have a timebomb so that they quit working after a while. If that happens, you can't even install the final SP3 in this case, although I've read reports saying that MS enabled installing SP3 final over beta builds 3811 and higher, but yours is quite low a build number.

Noone else is going to test the same situation with the same very old SP3 beta. What would make you think that such an old SP3 beta wouldn't be the cause of your problem, especially since noone else has reported the problem with the final?

Ok guys, I must admit. You were right, I used latest nLite and Final SP3 and (almost) everything worked just fine.

I still have some problems:

Internet Explorer Link Creation did not work (still have it)

Tooltip and Menu fading (still does it)

Automatic restart on System Failure (stays on)

Here is .ini file:

FYI, that looks like the same old .ini file from the old nLite and old SP3.

I really don't know what to suggest for the three issues. Still you should post your most recent .ini from nLite for your most recent nLite run, not your old one.

It's possible Nuhi will have to get involved if nLite is actually not doing what it's supposed to be. Right now I don't have the time to try to duplicate the problems you're having. It's nothing too bad, though, since you can change that stuff after installation for now until nLite gets fixed if that's the problem.

Hm... Yes it does look like old .ini ... Maybe 1.4 is not version of nLite, maybe it has something to do with Win version.

But I ensure you that I've used nLite 1.4.5 and that I have downloaded SP3 final.

I know that I could set those three things and that they're not very important, but... you know... when you decide to make perfection, these kind of things makes you mad :)

Thanks for your time The "rode" Warrior, and all others, if you happen' to bump into solution some time in the future, please mail me (medicmomcilo@yahoo.com)
