h8isgr8
Hi all,I have been pulling my hair out over a problem I am having post install. Every time windows boots the processes take a loooooooong time to load. They all show up in the processes window, but under "USER NAME" nothing shows up for like 2-3 minutes. I have used nlite in the past (a couple years ago) and never had this problem. The problem is present regardless of which service pack I try.The only windows components removed are the security center, error reporting, and search assistant. Any other options/tweaks have been kept to a minimum.Windows runs excellent once started and everything is how I want it, I just can't figure out what is keeping the processes from starting as fast as they should.Any suggestions/clues/help is greatly appreciated. h8isgr8
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the kind of install.I start out with a pre-service pack XP Professional 5.1.2600.0 image and then I manually slipstream SP3 v5512. I've also tried with SP2 and get the same results. SwedenXP
I would look into a thread in the Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003 forum and read. HOWTO: Slipstream Windows XP SP3, WM11, and IE7I myslef do not use those 2 progs... IE7.exe and WMP11.exe/SwedenXP B)
DL.
If a service which other services depend on is not starting, it may cause delays like these.Check your event log for errors, those will show you the services that are not starting.
angrypenguin
Sorry I'm lazy and didn't read the log you posted, from experience I've found that slow startup is often caused by either non-existent programs listed for startup or like was suggested above, services disabled with dependencies still slated for startup. The error log (eventvwr) suggestion is a great one I reckon!
