SP3 Slipstream with Boot sector problem

Recommended Posts

I got the boot sector from somewhere for XP on nero, it works before.

Now it wont work on Nero 8.

and i also got this strange error.

The following value in the .SIF file used by Setup is corrupted or missing:

Value 0 on the line in section [sourceDisksFiles] with key "SP3.cab"

Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.

This is for XP. I googled it up and it came in for W2K, so it is outdated information. Please help.

I had those kinds of problems when I burned in ISO 9660 Character set - ASCI. Or the image had more than 4 GB.

Hope this helps.

Based on your findings, I have taken a look at Nero8.

Character set (ISO) as ASCII

is that correct?

Beside, my dvd consist only...

Office 2007

Dell QuickSet

Dell Notebook System Setup

Dell SpeedStep fix for XP

Microsoft DirectX 9.0C March 2008 Redist

Nero 8 Lite

I plans to add more, but the thing is, i successfully integrated my laptop drivers, thanks to a06lp's Drivers from CD

I have tested it from my laptop, appearing it was working properly, but it need to run with the setup.exe.

So to set the ASCII should solve this mysterious problem?

And I'll have to re-slipstream the new one based on the new slipstream cd that I'm going to give it a try.

No. I mean.

You must set that to ISO 9660 (standard ISO CD-ROM).

And your image must have less than 4 GB of data on it.

I had that error earlier today. In my case I'm updating my multi-boot DVD, based on flyakite's original method but modified slightly to use ISOLINUX.

That means I need a bin file (PRR3.bin in my case), hacked to point to a \PRR3 directory.

In that directory txtsetup.sif needs SetupSourcePath hacked and winnt.sif also needs changing.

setupldr.bin also needs to be hacked.

Finally, my machine needs some extra drivers, provided by $OEM$ in the directory with the SP3 kit.

I don't recall exactly which of those areas it was that I had forgotten, but after checking everything

by hand, I found a mistake and fixing that fixed the error.

It's been a long time since I built a single-install CD, so if that's what you are doing, then

you'll have to check all the steps by hand, paying close attention to directory names and the

like.

I *think* my problem was that my SP3 \PPR3 txtsetup.sif pointed at an SP2 kit directory.

Hope this helps.
