Nerwin Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Hey guys,I have a Motorola Surfboard and 2 Linksys WRT54G and one being used as a switch. oh and I have 8 port switch in my room and 8 port switch down stairsMy question is, can I have a bandwidth monitor that will see these and monitor the bandwidth going in and out of them?I know that I prolly need smart switches or something but this is just for home use and our network has been laggy for some reason and having a monitor will greatly reduce the time to get us back online. Thanks guys
gamehead200 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 What version of the WRT54G do you have? You might be able to put on the Tomato firmware on it and get something like this to monitor your bandwidth:
Nerwin Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) Nice!!! it is Version 5EDIT: Just checked there website and it only said V1-V4 So I guess mine wont work Edited April 20, 2008 by computerMan
rendrag Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 don't forget though... Tomato won't monitor what particular machine is soaking bandwidth (correct me if I'm wrong gamehead). If you wanted to measure at the port level, you'd need some higher end hardware.

You could always setup some sort of a spare computer as a gateway of some sort.
