Looking for HP all-in-one basic drivers - not software

Hi. I'm new here.

I need help with a used printer I just got from a relative. It's a HP psc 1210 all-in-one printer. The relative has misplaced the installation CD and I'd prefer not to install the full software. HP's website doesn't provide the basic drivers for this printer, they only offer the full software.

I've spent hours trying to find drivers for this printer and I found a solution on these forums. However, I'm a bit hesitant to try these drivers as HP says they don't go with my printer. Here's a link to the thread that discusses these drivers - http://www.msfn.org/board/new-Hp-All-in-on...ers-t42703.html

Can anyone confirm for sure that these drivers will work with the psc 1210? Also, I'm a little unclear on something else. If these drivers work, will I also be able to use the scanner? Or do I need the software to use the scanner?

HP told me to use the drivers for the Deskjet 990c, but that didn't work. I'm hoping to resolve this problem soon. I'm starting to dream about it in my sleep. :(

Is there a reason why you don't want to install the full software package?

This is a long way to get the drivers, but it should work. Download the full software package for XP and run it. By default, it will ask to extract the files to C:\Temp\HP All-in-One Series Web Release. Cancel the the install when it starts (after the files have extracted). Now plug in the all-in-one and when the system asks for drivers, simply point it to C:\Temp\HP All-in-One Series Web Release for them.

just my two cents,

Make a image of your system.

Install the drivers for you're printer using the HP downloadfile.

After install has finished and everything works as supose to use a drivergrabberprogram to pull the drivers for youre printer from the system.

Forummember Siginet FREE drivegrabberprogram can be found here http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Drive...er/1170699160/1 or on his webpage http://siginetsoftware.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=13

Unplug you're printer, restore you're system from the image, reboot, plug the printer in and when the new hardwarefoundwizard shows point to the corresponding directory/media where you saved you're drivers.

A little bit of hard work but it wil leave you with a clean system without al the junk HP installs by nature.

good luck
