1. does vlite support windows server 2008?

2. is it true that again server 2008 (optimized for desktops) is better/faster than vista?

3. is server 2008 better/faster than 2003 (optimized for desktops)?

4. if yes, which 2008 version is best for desktops?

There are other post about it.

Yes you can use vlite on 2008 server but it's not recommended.

2008 use the same kernel as Vista SP1 so it cannot be faster.

Take a look on 2008 server web site for more information

That is simply put wrong. Server 2008 is faster. The kernel is the same, however, the system is much more then a kernel. There is a LOT missing/disabled from server 2008 that has been loaded into vista for it to be User and DRM friendly.

I'm not going to get into a fight here - google for performance tests and look at the numbers. Here is one that comes up quickly.

Just remember, if you plan on going the W2K8 route, as far as I can tell, know one has been able to get a TV tuner working AT ALL. The drivers install, but recording devices cannot "see" the input from the TV (tuner/composite/s-video). Clearly, something essential is missing. I tried W2K8 RTM. It was all that and a bag of chips too.

Hi. Can vlite be used to remove editions of windows server 2008?

I plan on removing all the editions except for the enterprise core server edition to reduce the iso size.

Doesn't actually do much at all. Removing the versions only will not save much space because nearly every version has all of the same files...
