v1.4.1: WFP prompts for CD

Hello

First of all, a big thank you for Nuhi for all his great efforts.

But, unfortunately I have a problem.

I used nLite v1.4.1 on an English WinXP Pro SP1 Volume License CD to do the following:

1. Slipstream SP2

2. Integrate IE7

3. Components Removed: MSN Explorer, Windows Messenger, Windows Tour, Search Assistant and Desktop Cleanup Wizard

4. Unattended Settings (serial number, language selection etc. Nothing removed and no tweaks or hacks selected)

5. Options: Everything set to default.

6. Tweaks: Various settings.

7. Disabled Services: Telnet, Remote Registry and Messenger

I used this CD on several different machines.

The strange thing is that on some machines Windows asks for the installation CD every time a device driver is installed, and on some it doesn't.

I am working in a production environment and I need to provide answers to my superiors. They, and I too, are worried that other components and other critical or non-critical parts of Windows might be changed or even missing.

Why is there a prompt to insert a Windows CD every time a driver is installed and why does it happen on some of the machines installed with this CD and not all?

How can I be sure that these machines are running a version of Windows without (other) changes I do not know about?

I understand that this program is provided for free and with no warranty, but I have to know what else may be changed or missing. I put my trust and my word on nLite and brought it to a production environment which my job depends on. I need to be able to tell my superiors that nothing else is changed or missing and that the workstations running this version of Windows (the one from this CD) are perfectly safe from defects and other "surprises" (i.e. changes I did not make).

nLite IS NOT FOR CORPORATE USE!!! Read the EULA!

You agreed to the fact that nLite is not for corporate use when you installed it.

Plus before you ask it is BECAUSE of reasons like this nLite will not be for corporate use!

OMG you actually decided to let your job DEPEND on nLite? You are in an IT field and you cheated pure and simple... An app like nLite should not be used in a "production" enviroment because you cannot support it. You are WAY above your head here sir. Everything you used Nlite to do CAN be done by yourself and then you can support it and actually know what you are doing.

People like you are just going to get nLite shut down.

I admitted making a mistake alright? And if it wasn't clear, you can quote me: I KNOW I SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THIS, but after years of using nLite with good results I did not think I could encounter a problem or something unexpected like this.

My question was however how can I amend this and are there any more changes made to the system which I am not aware of.

#1 nLite did not do anything hidden.

#2 SFC is always going to come up after removals have been done unless you disable it.

But I removed applications, not device drivers. So why does this happen at all? Furthermore, why does this happen only on some machines and not all?

As far as you or anyone else here know - are there any other issues I might be facing in the future with these machines?

Im still suprised you can still even ask for help considering you already broke the EULA agreement. Futhermore if you did some research on the components you wish to remove (its not that hard) then you could remove them yourself and fulyl understand what is happening without the need for another program, thus you would look even better in the eyes of your superiors.

Any modification of windows files violates the EULA! Plus you violated nLites EULA the second you used it in a corp enviroment. Then you pretend to be an IT guy by using apps to do what you, by all rights should be able to do yourself. Windows is not a program you or your company actually OWNS it is more of a program you have rented the rights too.

In light of this I will cease any use of nLite at work right from this minute.

As for the above mentioned user (which should be BANNED from this forum for libel) - that is not accurate. It accused me of other things and very much deserves my wrath for being a cheeky little puppy.

Attacking him is anything but needles, it is a must, as he was falsely and maliciously accusing me of illegal activities which I have no part of.

You broke the EULA of nLite on by your own admition on MULTIPLE occasions and PCs these are fully illegal actions. Multiple times in your posts you refer to doing this I accussed you of nothing that you did not admit to (except for pretending to be an IT guy, a properly educated IT guy would NEVER have done this and would know the EULA of Windows. Plus they would never "put my trust and my word on nLite and brought it to a production environment which my job depends on." without EXTREME research on the fore said program and reading the EULA of mentioned program.

You see I have alot of experience and education on such matters and have falsely accused you of nothing.
