New Member w/ Nero 6 OEM: Should I buy Nero 8 or Nero 7?

Hi all,

I have had Nero for years as OEM that came with my first burner, which I wore out, having made hundreds of mostly music CDRs with Nero. I gather that the OEM discs are encoded with the hardware device they were bundled with, so I just bought a new burner with another Nero OEM. So, I can continue with what I'm used to as long as this burner lasts. However, I'm ready to just buy a full version of Nero and plan to load either the Micro or Lite version with my new serial number. I have contemplated hunting down a used retail copy of Nero 6.6.1.5, but now favor buying a retail copy of either Nero 7 or Nero 8. Nero 7 can still be found, but I just found Nero 8 for a fantastic price. http://shop1.outpost.com/product/5359518?s...CH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

So, I'm asking for advice: should I buy 7 or 8? Does my system weigh into the question very much? I have a PC with a Cyrix processor thats 733mHz to 1GB, I have 335MB of RAM, and a 80GB hard drive, and I'm running Windows XP Pro 86. I have a Sony CRX230AE/U 52X/32X/52X ATAPI EIDE CD-RW Drive for my burner. So yeah, I would need to move the files on the DVD onto a large flash drive for my installation. And I intend on running Nero Lite or Micro, not the whole bloatware. So, does this help in determining whether to buy Nero 7 or Nero 8?

Thanks!!

agreed. Nero is nice application, but free is always good. I have a Nero 7.5 that doesnt require a key but its not cracked either, its a legit copy thats bundled software that we use here at work. I'll post a download link in a few i just got to get it up online somewhere to download. Its around 450-550mb.

I wouldnt do that.

1. This is not a warez site! Links/Requests to warez and/or illegal material (porn, cracks, serials, etc..) will not be tolerated. Discussion of circumventing WGA/activation/timebombs/keygens or any other illegal activity will also not be tolerated. You will be banned without notice.

even if you have a 'bundled' copy of nero 7.5 i can guarantee the license does not allow you to transfer it to everyone on the internet.

I would say you shouldnt buy either. Nothing against Nero. Its good stuff but I use free software whenever possible.

http://www.imgburn.com/ for data CDs

http://www.burrrn.net/ for audio CDs

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/ instead of Nero ImageDrive

Exactly. Nero isn't a good program any more.

I wouldn't warez it either. Not worth the bandwidth.

@geek,

cheers for those options as i currently use nero6 and was wondering about upgrading to 7 or 8 but understand that they are now so full of bloatware.

Do recommend any program specifically over another for a reason or to??

thank you

For the record, newish versions of the excellent IMGBURN do burn Audio CD as well:

http://www.imgburn.com/

so that would be everithing a normal user needs.

For a Virtual Drive, besides FILEDISK:

and IMDISK:

I normally use this one:
