Has anyone been able to install IE8 beta on Vlite install?

It sounds like IE8 is quite promising, so I tried to install it today on my Vlite install. The install completes, but after a reboot, the install reverses and restores IE7. I just wondered if I was alone on this.

I just extracted the installer and integrated the resulting Microsoft Update Standalone Package (.msu). It seems to have integrated successfully with Vlite - I'm going to try to install Vista now.

Yeah, although I haven't tried integrating IE8, that behavior can happen.

ie. If you try to integrate the Dreamscene .cab using pkgmgr into for example Vista Business, it will integrate with no issues, but, when you install the OS, it won't be there since the SKU does not support Dreamscene. It's probably not the exact same thing with IE8 but I expect something similar (some compatibility check) is going on.

You're right - it didn't work. I'm sure Nuhi will figure it out eventually.

Wow---I just tried a very minimal reduction, basically only throwing out drivers and languages. I kept UAC and had it enabled. Still a no-go. I wonder if this is an issue with SP1 (?!)

IE8 Beta 1 installed fine for me on heavily vLite-ed Vista Ultimate SP1. I have removed most of the components with vLite (the installation image was 637MB in size).

Yeah same, I have a fully vLited install and had no problems installing IE8. I guess it's only a handful of components that cause problems.

There is nothing wrong with the sp1(6001.1800).it works great for me , but i didnt integrate IE8 via Vlite ,i created my own install.wim with Dreamscene , IE8 integrated ,and some software such as Vista codecs ,and Nero installed ,it worked all right ,and i removed the SPeech support ,but office2007 sp1 installed and works all right , ,by the way i am running vista 32
