Bilar Crais
It sounds like IE8 is quite promising, so I tried to install it today on my Vlite install. The install completes, but after a reboot, the install reverses and restores IE7. I just wondered if I was alone on this.------------------------------[Compatibility]ACDSee / XnViewZoom PlayerAero GlassFile and printer sharing (Server)Internet ExplorerRecommendedScanners and CamerasSystem Restore[CustomHide][Components];# Accessories #AccessibilityMobility CenterPaintSpeech SupportSystem InformationWelcome CenterWindows Sidebar and GadgetsWordpad;# Drivers #Diva ServerEthernet network adaptersModemsPrinters-ApolloPrinters-BrotherPrinters-CanonPrinters-CitizenPrinters-DellPrinters-DiconixPrinters-EpsonPrinters-Fuji XeroxPrinters-FujitsuPrinters-Generic printerPrinters-GestetnerPrinters-HPPrinters-IBMPrinters-InfotecPrinters-KonicaPrinters-Konica MinoltaPrinters-Kyocera MitaPrinters-LanierPrinters-LexmarkPrinters-MinoltaPrinters-Minolta-QMSPrinters-NECPrinters-NRGPrinters-OcePrinters-OkiPrinters-OlivettiPrinters-PanasonicPrinters-QMSPrinters-RicohPrinters-SamsungPrinters-SavinPrinters-SeikoshaPrinters-SharpPrinters-SonyPrinters-StarPrinters-TallyPrinters-TektronixPrinters-Wipro ePeripheralsPrinters-XeroxQLogic Fibre Channel AdapterScannersSound controllersStorage controllers-AdaptecStorage controllers-ElxstorStorage controllers-Hewlett-PackardStorage controllers-IBM ServeRAIDStorage controllers-ICP vortexStorage controllers-IntelStorage controllers-ITEStorage controllers-LSI LogicStorage controllers-MegaRAIDStorage controllers-nVidiaStorage controllers-PromiseStorage controllers-SiSStorage controllers-ULiStorage controllers-Via;# Games #Inbox GamesPremium Inbox Games;# Hardware Support #Fax SupportInternet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI)Modem SupportSmartcardsWindows Mobile Device CenterWLAN Support;# Languages #JapaneseKoreanSimplified ChineseTable Driven Text Input ProcessorTraditional Chinese;# Multimedia #Movie and DVD MakerMusic and Video samplesSample PicturesScreensaversShell event soundsSideShowSound RecorderWallpapersWindows Photo Viewer;# Network #Connect to a Network ProjectorInternet Information Services (IIS)Windows CollaborationWindows Mail;# Services #Error ReportingReadyBoostRemote RegistrySecondary LogonWebDAV (WebClient)Windows Remote ManagementWindows SearchWindows Time;# System #HelpIMAPIv2 Burning SupportMalicious Software Removal ToolManual Install (Setup.exe)Microsoft AgentNatural LanguageRemote Differential CompressionRun a legacy CPL elevatedSecurity CenterSync CenterTablet PCUser Account Control (UAC)Windows DefenderWindows Easy Transfer[Options]DEP (Data Execution Prevention) = DefaultUser Account Control (UAC) = EnabledAntiSpyware Realtime Protection = DefaultAutoPlay = EnabledPaging Executive = EnabledPower scheme = High performancePower button = ShutdownSleep button = Do nothingHibernation = OffControl Panel - Classic View = EnabledShow hidden files and folders = YesShow protected operating system files = NoShow extensions for known file types = NoIE Phishing Filter = DisabledIE Phishing Verification Ballon Tips = Disabled[Protection][Drivers]E:\Files\Drivers\MSI K8T Neo2-F v2.0\Gigabit Ethernet 5.673.0712.2007\Netrtlx.inf[unattended][Hotfixes][LanguagePacks]

Legolash2o
Same here, cant integrate it either even when using its CAB file Edited March 6, 2008 by LegoLiam™
Bilar Crais
Same here, cant integrate it either even when using its CAB file I just extracted the installer and integrated the resulting Microsoft Update Standalone Package (.msu). It seems to have integrated successfully with Vlite - I'm going to try to install Vista now.
Legolash2o
the cab integrated fine with vlite too but when i tested with VMWare i still had IE7 lol
Arneh
the cab integrated fine with vlite too but when i tested with VMWare i still had IE7 lolYeah, although I haven't tried integrating IE8, that behavior can happen. ie. If you try to integrate the Dreamscene .cab using pkgmgr into for example Vista Business, it will integrate with no issues, but, when you install the OS, it won't be there since the SKU does not support Dreamscene. It's probably not the exact same thing with IE8 but I expect something similar (some compatibility check) is going on.

I'm sure Nuhi will figure it out eventually. Wow---I just tried a very minimal reduction, basically only throwing out drivers and languages. I kept UAC and had it enabled. Still a no-go. I wonder if this is an issue with SP1 (?!) Edited March 6, 2008 by Bilar Crais
SnapShot
IE8 Beta 1 installed fine for me on heavily vLite-ed Vista Ultimate SP1. I have removed most of the components with vLite (the installation image was 637MB in size). Edited March 6, 2008 by SnapShot
Nu|ma
Yeah same, I have a fully vLited install and had no problems installing IE8. I guess it's only a handful of components that cause problems.
