Boowinnie
Greetings all!My son recently "experimented" with Linux and in doing so, completely removed Windows (and everything else) from our family computer. The computer came with Vista, but no installation disc. So since we had to reinstall Windows, we used an XP disc that we had. (We weren't loving Vista anyway...)After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, I successfully removed Linux and got XP loaded. However, now we can not get sound. I have gone through the troubleshooting utility and it says that the audio configuration is not right, but I can't figure out how to fix it. I went through each element listed under audio in the device manager and clicked "update driver", but that didn't do it.Any clues? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.Brenda
VascoMan
Have you installed the drivers for your particular sound card? Are there any yellow "question or exclamation" marks in device manager?click START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL - SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES - AUDIO (tab at the top)are the default devices greyed out?If your soundcard is 'onboard', check your pc manufacturers site for xp drivers. If you soundcard is 'pci,' then identify the maker of the card, go to their website for xp drivers.
