aden2003
my SP3 XP PRO created by nlite (Essentially XP SP2 nlited by SP3 package released by Microsoft) doesnot accept IE7 addon .It doest integrate the addon ,but testing setup on VMWARE 5.5 revealsthat OLD IE6 is still in place !!!The same problem was replicated when integrating addon by RyanVM Integrator !Any one with the same problem ??? Any help ???@nlite developer :can we extract contents of IE7.exe then place them into $OEMS$\$1\Program Files\ Internet Explorer ??Will this do the trick ?? Any other solution ??I heard a rumor that MS has built-in mechanism in SP3 to refuse IE7 asthey claim it should be Vista-specific browser.
Legolash2o
try integrating IE7 before you slipstream SP3, works fine for me
Arie
I heard a rumor that MS has built-in mechanism in SP3 to refuse IE7 asthey claim it should be Vista-specific browser.Nonsense.But for a second lets assume that this would be the case, then why would Microsoft release a Windows XP compatible version of Internet Explorer 7 in the first place, which recently even got replaced with a copy which doesn't validate your copy of Windows XP? This would not make any sense. Logical thinking, common sense.
weEvil
SP3 is still in Release Candidate stage. If you still have problems, then just use SP2 and apply Xable's Post-SP2 update pack.SP3 final will be released in a few months, be sure most (if not all) problems will be fixed by then. And there is no mechanism to refuse IE7. Except WGA they had previously. If you're using the old version of IE7 that needs validation, that could be messing it up.
vaughancoveny
my SP3 XP PRO created by nlite (Essentially XP SP2 nlitedby SP3 package released by Microsoft) doesnot accept IE7 addon.I hope you see this replyIt doesn't need to, its part of the Service Pack already. You see on the compatiblity box before removals without XP SP3 RC1 integration, if you're not using the beta, one checkbox - Internet Explorer 7.With SP3 integration, it just says Internet Explorer. As IE 8 pre-release whatever is not for public download.Unless this is a nLite bug and typo. Edited February 7, 2008 by vaughancoveny
vaughancoveny
QUOTEmy SP3 XP PRO created by nlite (Essentially XP SP2 nlitedby SP3 package released by Microsoft) doesnot accept IE7 addon.Reply re-wordedIE 7 doesn't need require an addon as part of SP3 RC1 - its there by the sounds. I have never used SP3 beta, which may not work. You see without XP SP3 RC1 integration, on the compatiblity box before removals, is one checkbox - Internet Explorer 7, to enable compatibility. With SP3 integration, it just says Internet Explorer. No 7 at the end.As IE 8 pre-release whatever is not for public download.Clarify this reasoning please someone.Unless this is a nLite bug and typo. wacko.gifThis post has been edited by vaughancoveny: Today, 12:11 AM
