Block internet, but allow just VPN, Is it possible?

Do anybody know if its possible to close a computer totally from Internet, like the cable was unplugged but you could still access it with VPN from another location?

Then it will be no chances of getting virus, spy ware etc, but still be able to remotely access it

why not using a firewall and block everything except the vpn connection?

actualy you still get those things...if you download a file that is infected with a virus/trojan it doesnt matter if you use a vpn or any other connection but your privacy will be protected through vpn though
