I'm having the same problem.

I have Windows Vista Home Basic 64 bit with SP1.

One of them is a Warning (Source: srv) (Event id: 2021)

"The server was unable to allocate a work item 1 times in the last 60 seconds."

The other one is an Error (Source: srv) (Event id: 2017)

"The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the server reached the configured limit for nonpaged pool allocations."

No domain here. Just a simple workgroup.

Does anyone know what's the cause?

Regards.

Ohh, crap! The errors are still there!

Changing the MaxMpxCt value has just increased the number of errors A LOT! Now the Event Viewer is flooded with those errors :(

Help, please!

Server service is meant for INBOUND connections to your box - it might be better to figure out why you're seeing all of those inbound connection attempts, rather than to mess with nonpaged pool or to try and tweak the connection defaults in the server service (trust me).

The root cause is not your client, but the amount of INBOUND connections TO your Vista box. Fix that, and you'll not see the other problems.

Hi,

I have 7 computers in total in my workgroup (5 of them use Windows XP, one uses Vista Basic 64 bit, and the other one is a Mac Mini running Mac OS Leopard).

I didn't have any problems at all until I upgraded my computer to Vista. (well, technically I didn't "upgrade", I formatted the hard drive and installed the Vista SP1 DVD from scratch).

It's obvious that this problem is related to the server service in Vista. I don't know what's changed, but it's clear that it needs fixing.

I have also posted about my problem here:

http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/showpo...0&siteid=17

Let's hope that Microsoft releases a hotfix soon. I'm unable to access my shared folders from the other computers. This is a critical problem for me!

Regards.
