Recommended Posts

Hi

this thread is mainly for (my) personal thought might be of interest to others.

I've been playing around with unattended for about 3 years by now, though always used Nuhi's nLite, which is an awesome tool for starters, so i'm reaching a point where his tool doenst fullyfill all needs any longer.

Please do not post within this thread until some of the placeholder posts have some real entries. Thank you.

There are several steps this thread will go through

Wanted to include how to 'slipstream' apply a service pack to the installation.

Sadly i've got a WinXP Pro SP2 CD from my OEM Vendor.

Fully unattend

For the basic unattend installation we dont need that much, but need to know we can use the values also in the future.

Option 1: Read the MSFN hosted Guide

Option 2: Read through the Microsoft Knowledge Base

Option 3: Use a Tool (nLite / HFSLIP / Setup Manager (WinXP SP2 Deployment Tools))

Option 4: Edit the existing one and pray

Drivers

Option 1: MSFN Guided (very good)

Option 2: MSFN Guided as well

Option A: Video Codecs

Hotfixes

Option 1: MSFN hosted

Option 2: RyanVM

theme

@arjuna07

What your trying to do is not difficult if your interested, just time consuming. While you work on it, think about how you'll undate the finished image. Keep folders you use to create silent setups, configuration files, etc. for adding to a ua template, if so inclined. :)

Thats about what i was planing :)

So far, i used to play around with nlinte, which most likley will be used again. However i want to include so many more things, and silent for sure.

Anyhow, i'm going through the 5 steps, by now we're somewhere between 1 (empty) and 2 (link library). While the status link library would be something like a follow up faq. Like here's a list of what may be changed during setup, and you get to choose which part you want to have explained, so you click to a link which directs you to a post someone has written who has more knowledge about that issue...
