Problems Running Painkiller Overdose

pizzag

Recommended Posts

I rebuilt my vista ultimate and installed it. after that i installed the new painkiller overdose games and when i ran it it said parental controls do not allow you to run this game. so i rebuilt it and left the parental control in and reinstalled. set up the parental control to let me run any game and i still get the same message. Any help on this would be great. I am including my preset file

Weird that you mention that. Other user reported the same with the new Settlers. And I tried it at my friends place who uses vLite and it runs fine.

So it's something else.

Try keeping Game Explorer and MS HTML Engine.

ok, i rebuilt again keeping game explorer and parental controls and i get the same error. also, when the game finishes installing it says error registering with game explorer. i know it's not the game cause i don't rebuild vista and it works fine under admin account without any messing. i create another account and set it up to play the game and i still get the same error and can't even install the game. what option do i need to leave intact to run the game with credentials for windows xp sp2? thanks much for the help

I managed to get Settlers 6 working, i did get a dwmapi.dll error at first but just i copied a new one into the SysWOW64 folder as it was already present in the System32 one.

So its one of these

im guessing u get that missing file error?

System32\dwmapi.dll goes in system32

SysWOW64\dwmapi.dll goes in syswow64

just incase you was wondering, also no need to overwrite the file, i added both incase u need them both but i only needed syswow64.
