HELLO !

I tried very hard the last 2 days to have a solution for this " TweaK " , but no way .

So , i have the default browser FIREFOX and of course InternetExplorer on my system xp sp2 .

When i double click a (internet)shortcut Firefox runs and this is ok .

But sometimes the same shortcut i need to be opened with InternetExplorer .

I've done almost everything I know to get the solution but no chance .

Can you help me , please ? 1000 Thanks !

SecretNinja : " I know its not ideal, but ...... "

You are very kind for replay , but it isn't what i'm looking for . Doing like this i must edit every shortcut .

I need a right-click menu / open with ... , or something like this .

Any advice will be very usefull .

@ ripken204 :

I don't have it . If i do a right-click on a shortcut(.url) i can see only : open , print , make available offline , .... etc

But not " open with ... " . I've tried to make it but doesn't work .

As i said , Firefox is the default browser and works fine ,

and if i try to open it with InternetExplorer just manage the shortcut

like a common file and DOES NOT launch the address .

Thanks anyway .

This not intended to upset, but I see a few cases of this type of thing every so often. I'm not saying that it cannot be done nor am I stating that you do not have the right to do it your own way.

It's just that to me it is an unnecessary waste of your time persuing a solution to something that will not be used very often.

Since you have decided to use your alternative browser as the default application it seems to me that you would only need to open URLs using IE on the odd occasion.

Why can you not just drag and drop that occasional URL onto the IE icon in your quick launch bar.

An alternative idea may be to use the IE Tab Mozilla Extension.

You don't . The story is that i need it , not very often but i need it . I don't Know&Understand how to do it .

And i could see that they are a lot good in this place and i've asked .

I haven't done something wrong : ask , be polite , wait , that's all story .

Never mind , i can understand that isn't easy even for you . Just forget it .

Till nest time All The Best !

I have an idea; there is an addon available at this page:

http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=336

This add-on incorporates a lot of context menu items. One in particular, "power tweaks," seems to have been custom made and changes depending on the item or area in which the context menu appears. Perhaps you could talk to them about modifying the pack or learning what tools within the add-on could be used in order to create the effect you want.

I believe all of the tools used are freeware.

Hope this helps!

  • 1 month later...

A menu example rip from my computer:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut\shell]
@="open"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut\shell\GoSuRF]
@=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut\shell\GoSuRF\command]
@="\"E:\\tool\\GOSURF2\\gsfbwsr.exe\" %1"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut\shell\open]
"CLSID"="{FBF23B40-E3F0-101B-8488-00AA003E56F8}"
"LegacyDisable"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" %1"

You can modify it, and save as "x.reg", double click it to import to registry.

Open Expert and Fast Explorer are both free and will both allow you to do what you want.
