This is *my* updates list in the order I install them when Im installing new Windows NT4.0 Workstation.

You'll notice it include some other stuff too; I include it for better usability of the OS.

The 070824 date is the date when I was installing it all on some old laptop.

I include such 'log' on most machines - its easier that way to find out what has been done to it ;)

Few words about *my* list.

I install updates mostly in the order they were realeased.

Some updates are deemed to be unneeded today since they were supplanted by newer hotfixes; however IMHO its not always the case, as some files from older hotfixes may haven't been included in newer hotfixes. (that should explain why I use them in their original release order and why I use all of them).

Lastly:

my llist had been modified many times in the past, and it will be modified again, so don't think it is some definitive updates list.

allow you to shutdown without it telling you its safe

Yes it does (assuming your machine is capable of)

No, personally I don't (I don't care about any eye-candy for gui), but I have instal it on that system above.

(added info that it is optional to NT4VU)

Its possible to install Media Player 7? How? And directx 6?

Windows NT 4 don't shut down automaticaly with ATX power?

After I install Service Pack 6 mouse scroll stop work, any sollution?

That is DirectX Media not the complete DirectX, DirectX5 from the NT5Beta is the newest complete version of DirectX

I had something I installed to get PS/2 mouse scroll to work, Unfortunately it is one of two things and I'm not sure which one it is.

Although if there is an actual fix that would be better then having another systray icon.

On Internet Explorer I can't install flash player 9, there is any tip? Install begin and give me a error :

"Error registering DLL: Could not load C:\WINNT\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9i.ocx" (Install.log).

Insteresting because the same version works on firefox on the same windows!

I`m searching for a program to work mouse scroll. Windows Media Player 7 works fine too.

I'm sure all Mozilla browsers (or gecko-based browsers) will work on NT4 with flash player 9 highest.

IE6 on NT4 only up to version 7.0.73

FF2 is such a bloatware, at least give it a try and check out latest K-Meleon...

As awergh said, it is DX Media, not the full DirectX.

Also, there is no need to install WMP7.0 first and do upgrade to WMP7.1

I don't remember now what exactly (because I did it years ago) but I simply opened up installers and replaced few files in 7.0's installer with the newer from 7.1, it was that easy. I had it available for ages but I don't have any public ftps anymore. However fellow NT4 user has it available here:

for PS/2 mouse scroll to work you either use Labtec PS/2 mouse driver, or install Msoft IntelliPoint (I'm not sure which is the last version to support NT4, personally I always install version 2.2d which is the size of *floppy* only, and does NOT come with gigabytes of pictures of various joysticks and other junk ;)
