With IE6 installed the locked resources are not released, and the system becomes unstable. With older IE versions the problem is less annoying, as the resources are released, after a while. Is it Win98 first edition (4.10.1998) or Win98 second edition (4.10.2222)? right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and select Properties to display the version of Win98.
