Integrate WU 7.0.6000.374 & WGA

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Is there a way to integrate latest Windows Update files (7.0.6000.374). I don't know where to find the cab file :/

Same question for WGA, so IE won't ask me to install ActiveX control :)

Cheers,

Kal

Install activeX control on your machine, get legitcheckcontroll.dll from your local system32 directory, place it in your install.wim and add somewhere a register command regsvr32 /S %systemroot%\system32\legitcheckcontrol.dll.

Or make a SFX with winrar - works too.

Windows Update Files : find Windows-Update-Agent-x86.exe run a install somewhere WPI,install.wim,systemcomplete.cmd

I've found another way to slipstream WU finally ;)

I've checked the windows update log file to see which files are downloaded and i've found these :

http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windo....0.6000.374.cab

http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windo....0.6000.374.cab

http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windo....0.6000.374.cab

I have slipstreamed these cab according to this guide :

http://firegeier.unattended-sponsor.de/en/updates.html

And it worked like a charm :D

Now i'm going to integrate WGA like you said, thank you.

I know were going over old ground but do we need only to preinstall the three updates above to satify WU or do we need to install Windows-Update-Agent-x86.exe as well?

Thanks Guys

Those 3 are enough

And if you want , you can copy the SoftwareDistribution folder as well.

But for that make sure you are in a Vista with all updates in it, make sure after a setup, that there are no updates.

Works like a charm

Just integrate those 3 , with the rest of your hotfixes

And when your vista is totaly updated , and you enter vista after a setup, and there are no more updates, set windows update to check for other updates etc.

Then copy c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution (Might need a reboot, otherwise some files are in use)

And put that in your wim

Thats all, good luck
