atari37
Is it possible to edit the context menu for the desktop? That is, When I right-click the desktop and go to New, I get the list of new file types I can create. How do I delete some of the file types on this menu. I have some file extensions I can't seem to recall adding. This causes my New menu to take about 3 minutes to pop up.Any help on how to edit this menu will be greatly appreciated. LeveL
Have a look here in the registry, Bitmap as an example:[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bmp\ShellNew]So you have a huge list of "." something something something files like....a52.aac.ac3.aca.aceAnd so on, theres TONS of them.Open ".bmp" and you'll see it has another sub-key called "ShellNew"Just delete that "ShellNew" sub-key.Thats the impression I get from this anyway:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=586086

lost_packet
Free "Power Toy" TweakUI from MS has all you need - look under templates and de-activate or remove those you don't needhttp://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c...wertoySetup.exeBTW - 3 minutes to launch the context menu, even with a lot of "new" file templates, is way too long. Does your machine have spyware issues or is it underpowered?
