One of the most waited list of Vista users...

It has just been released.

Hope this is not a crap.

I got this message from URL REMOVED - warez site

Code from URL REMOVED - warez site:

IMPORTANT: Setup will take at least 15 min to 30 mins to load.

This is a bug with the setup. It will be fixed in next release.

Download Link: [100mb]

Real or fake? I don't know. Im using Windows XP Media Center Edition.

Most likely its real, it has a stamp "Microsoft Corporation" on the executable

when the WindowsVista.SP1.Beta1.exe is extracted and see the properties of the setup.exe

Anyone successfully installed this? Please post it here to tell the world its real. =)

The most shocking thing... I cannot open the .wim file inside...

Could it be a new version of a .wim?

Is Microsoft hiding something?

I wouldn't touch it, and in fact I wouldn't be so quick to install the SP1 they're working on. Microsoft has already said there will be a SP1 but it will be for private testing, which tells me it's still in a very early state, not intended for running but testing only. I'd wait until there's a public release of SP1 beta before you install it on your machine, because at least that's gone through some quality control.

The first service pack for any client OS will likely generate more installs in corporate environments, thus more money, thus Microsoft is not going to hide anything. Also, the Vista SP1 codebase is the same as the Server 2008 codebase, so SP1 will not be officially released until around the time of the Server 2008 release, which won't be until Q4 of this year or Q1 of next.
