Need Vista show up in boot loader

Hi, i hope you guys can help me with this prob. i have a laptop (Presario F557US) came with Vista Basic then i installed windows XP pro on the same partition C:, now when i boot i do not see an option to choose which OS i want to boot from. i would be happy to get some help with this scenario.

What OS is currently loading now?

I really do not know if you can have them all in the same partition and run both fine...

both on the same partition, windows vista was the first installed then windows xp after, now i can only boot to xp.

Well...here's the deal.

Vista uses an entirely different bootloader than previous versions of Windows.

This means that either

a) Vista MUST be installed LAST in order to use its bootloader.

or

b) You'll have to use a third-party bootloader.

Simple

Run Windows XP & Insert your Vista DVD into drive.

Open Command Prompt and navigate to

G:\Boot>

Where G is your DVD drive

now run the command

bootsect /nt60 C:

Now, You can boot into Vista !

He installed XP ON TOP OF a Vista install!

Wouldn't his new Vista files have been overwritten by older XP files?

i guess it depends on if it made different windows folders.. but it was that simple when i had vista installed first and wanted to install xp on another partition.

thanks guys, i used the cd found the boot folder then used the bootsect.exe
