b0r3d
It looks like you're using a dud switch somewhere. What method are you using to install your extra applications?

RyanVM
While it shouldn't matter, I have a feeling it's those -q -n flags on update.exe throwing it off. Try running update.exe /? from within windows to see what flags are available to it.
bjdotcom
Do you want me to ignore them like instead use it as:[setupHotfixesToRun]update.exeWithout any switches!Cheers,Bj
RyanVM
I'd like to see what the proper switches for update.exe are first. Out of curiosity, what exactly *is* update.exe updating?

RyanVM
Ahh, so update.exe is kb826939 then? You're using the wrong flags with it. Use the standard /q /u /n /z with it. Let me know how that goes for you

GreenMachine
Q817778.EXE is causing this. Don't use it in SVCPACK.INF.

bjdotcom
ConfusedWhen I deleted Q817778.EXE from my svcpack.inf....That annoying screen disappeared......!So what went wrong with my Q817778.EXE.......Is there soemthing missing.Still takes a long time at the 13 minute mark...PS: I download the QCHAIN.exe from Microsoft.com...and when I opened it, just to see what it does....it asked where extract files...and when I extracted it.....there was a QCHAIN.exe.......!Do I have to use the QCHAIN.exe or the Extracted file (QHAIN.EXE) Cheers,Bj
GreenMachine
Q817778 installed ok with the /Q /U /N /Z switches under VPC on my machine.Congratulations: If you installed from either the CMDLINES.TXT or the SVCPACK.INF section, you are the first I have heard of to succeed. If it was from the RunOnce section ...@bjdotcom: You need the extracted version: QCHAIN.EXE inside of QCHAIN.EXE. It will take a while at the T-13 mark: that is where all we add happens. 817778.EXE needs the Explorer Shell to be loaded to run correctly, and this is not the case until the system reboots after the T-39 to T - 1 countdown. Aaron
when the rollup is slipstreamed, -q -n on update.exe is correct.
